Emerson, Audrey I.
Audrey I. Emerson (Robertson), a resident of Dedham, entered into enternal rest on Good Friday, April 6, 2012 surrounded by her children. She was 88. Audrey was born in Holbrook, Massachusetts and was the beloved daughter of the late Harry Edward and Rose Evelyn (Rines) Robertson Sr. After graduating from Holbrook High School, she attended secretarial school and then went to work for the Home Savings Bank. Mrs. Emerson was married to the late Donald B. Emerson, Sr. for 56 years. Together they raised 2 children. Before her retirement, she was employed by the School Department of Dedham Public Schools as a bookkeeper. Audrey was a member of the Allin Congregational Church where she actively participated in several groups. She taught Sunday school and was part of the knitting group and made crafts and quilts for the various fairs held there. Mrs. Emerson loved her home at Lake Winnipesaukee and enjoyed spending many summers there with her family. She was the loving mother of Donald B. Emerson, Jr. and his wife Marybeth of New Hampshire and John C. Emerson and his wife Barbara of Dedham. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia Doyle of TN, Dorothy Brennick of NH and Gertrude Hanna of SC. She was predeceased by her brother, Harry E. Robertson, Jr. Audrey was a devoted grandmother to her 2 granddaughters, Hannah and Helen Emerson and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at Holbrook Union Cemetery in Holbrook, MA.
