Alberto, Johanna
Johanna (Greenlaw) Alberto, of Norwood, died Monday, December 8th, 2008 at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood. She was two weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. Johanna was born December 19, 1915 in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Jones) Greenlaw. She worked as a waitress at the Washington Gardens in Dedham, at Cornetta’s Iron Horse in Norwood, at Terri’s Diner in Dedham Square, and she was the former owner of the J & J Cafe in East Dedham. She worked part-time at Polaroid until her retirement in 1980. Johanna was the wife of the late John P. Alberto who predeceased her in 1971 and the sister of the late Harry Greenlaw, the late William J. Fitzpatrick, and the late Mary O’Malley. She is survived by her son, John R. Bamberry of Moultonborough, New Hampshire; her stepchildren, Mary Kolz of Thornton, New Hampshire, Lorraine Brackett of Norwood, and John F. Alberto of Plymouth; her brother, Edward J. Fitzpatrick of Norwood; her grandchildren, Lynne Young of Wayland, Susan DeFelice of Windsor, Vermont and Steven Bamberry of Westwood; and her great grandchildren, Cole Young and Emily Bamberrry. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 6-9 PM at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols Street, Norwood. A graveside service will be held Friday at 9 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
