O’Brien, Edward C.
Edward C. O’Brien, a longtime resident of Dedham, died Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Highgate Manor Nursing Home in Dedham. He was 79. Edward was born January 23, 1932 in Dedham, Massachusetts, one of the seven children of Walter and Josephine (Webster) O’Brien. He worked as a welder for Westinghouse at their Sturtevant Division in Hyde Park. He is survived by two sons, Dennis O’Brien of Dedham, and David O’Brien of North Attleboro; two daughters, Barbara Knisbell of Quincy, and Joan Dyer of Nantucket; his brother, Kenneth O’Brien of Plymouth; his sister, Janice Grasso of Brockton; nine grandchildren, Stacey and Andrea Knisbell, Michelle and Sean Dyer, and Jackie, Olivia, Ian, Isabella, and Madison O’Brien; two great grandchildren, Timothy Coyle and Justin Knisbell; and his friend Patricia Stearns of West Roxbury. Edward was the father of the late Karen O’Brien and the brother of the late Walter, Robert, Barbara, and Dorothy O’Brien. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 29th from 6 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home Friday at 8 AM and proceed to St. Mary’s Church, 420 High Street, Dedham for his Mass of Christian Burial at 9 o clock. Interment will follow in the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, Baker Street, West Roxbury.
