Shagoury, Alma K.
Alma Anne (Koujian) Shagoury, a longtime resident of Norwood, died, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at her home in Norwood. She was 87. Alma was born February 20, 1924 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a daughter of Armenian immigrants John and Mary (Kevorkian) Kouyoumjian. She graduated from Cambridge Ringe and Latin High School and worked briefly as a secretary at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before her marriage to Paul B. Shagoury. In addition to her husband of 58 years, she is survived by her two sons, Stephen C. Shagoury of Endicott, New York and P. Brian Shagoury of Norwood; and her two grandchildren, Abraham M. Shagoury and Sophia M. Shagoury. Alma was the sister of the late Stephen Kouyoumjian, the late Harry Kouyoumjian, and the late Alice DiBlossi. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols Street, Norwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Thursday at 10 AM at the Epiphany Episcopal Church, 62 Front Street, Walpole, followed by burial in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
We were very sad to learn of the death of our dear neighbor,Alma, on Saturday. She has been my friend and telephone chat person ever since we moved here in l976.
I will miss her very much!
