Richmond, Mary E.
Marie (Mary) E Richmond (Sullivan) born August 15th 1922 to John and Mary Sullivan (Parlon). Was raised with her sister Josephine O’Donnell (Sullivan)on Walkhill St. in Jamaica Plain, Ma. Her mother Mary passed away suddenly in 1930, causing her to spend most of her younger years with her aunt Nellie Parlon. Who was employed as a cook for upper class families in the Boston area, and in Hyannis during the summer. Where Marie and her sister would spend their days playing on the beaches of Cape Cod with local children, including John F., Rosemary, Kathleen, and Eunice Kennedy.
Marie would marry her high school sweetheart Lawrence F. Richmond on April 12, 1942
During WWII she worked at Wheeler Reflector Co. in J.P. manufacturing motors for Allied bombers, while her husband fought in the Pacific in battles including IWO JIMA.
They would begin their family with the birth of their first son on November 3, 1946. As years passed their family would grow with the addition of a daughter and three more sons.
On October 31, 1954 they moved from J.P. to their new home on Glancy Ln. in Dedham, which is still in the family to this day. Summers would be spent at the family camp on Curlew Pond in Plymouth, and that tradition still goes on today.
The students of Dedham High School and Junior High would remember Marie as the cashier in there cafeteria from 1970 -1986.
Marie and Larry where members of the Wally Byam Caravan Club and spent many years traveling our great country in there Airstream travel trailer. Most of their retirement years were spent at Port O Call Airstream park in Melbourne Fla. After the death of her husband in 2002, Marie returned to Dedham. Where with the help of friends Sheila and Angie, she would spend her active days into her late 80’s with her dog Alex by her side. Her final days of her life were lived under the loving care of the staff at Victoria Haven Home in Norwood. Marie passed away with her family by her side on November 3, 2011. Her memory will be carried on by her children Larry, John, Sandra, Chuck, Fran, and there family’s including 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all who knew her
