Thomas, F. Maude
Frances Maude Thomas, a longtime resident of Brookline, Massachusetts died Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Royal Megansett Nursing Home in Falmouth, Massachusetts in her 110th year. Maude was born June 13, 1902 in Wales, a daughter of Owen and Maude (Yates) Thomas. She came to the United States in 1912. In 1920 she and her family lived in Milford, New Hampshire, and Maude worked as a stitcher in a clothing factory. Shortly thereafter they moved to Boston where Maude earned her Bachelor of Humanities degree from Harvard University. Maude worked for almost 60 years as a secretary. Most of those years she worked at Hoyle, Doran and Barry Architects of Boston from where she retired in 1988. Maude never married but is survived by several loving nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Marguerite (Thomas) Kendall and the late Gladys R. (Thomas). In respect of Maude’s wishes there will be no funeral services. After cremation her ashes will reside in a niche at the columbarium at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston.
