Grosbeck, Frederick G.
Frederick G. Grosbeck, lovingly known as Fred, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, after a brief illness. He was 79. He was born in Ambridge, Pennsylvania to the late Frederick G. and Lucretia (Heston) Grosbeck. Fred grew up in Girard, Ohio and graduated from High School there. He joined the United States Navy in May of 1951, fighting in the Korean War. He received a Good Conduct medal, and the Navy Occupation and Naval Defense Service Ribbons. Fred was Honorably discharged in 1955. After the war he went on to Bentley College received a degree in Accounting. He worked as an Accountant for the Weston-Thurston Company of Boston for over 12 years until his retirement in 1994. Fred was a member of the Jacob Jones VFW Post 2017 of Dedham; the American Legion Post 18 of Dedham; and a former member of Constellation Lodge A.F. & A.M of Dedham. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Marilyn N (Anderson) Grosbeck of Dedham, and his daughter Karen M. Bisnaw and her husband Lee of Norfolk. Fred was the brother of the late Edward A. Grosbeck. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday, July 26, 2011, from 4-7 pm at Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
We are so sorry to hear about Uncle Fred. My heart is with you and I wish I could physically be there with you too so I’m sorry to have to send my regrets for not being there. I know Dad would be there with you now and I just wish I could be there in his place. We love you and will pray for you.
