Mooney, Eleanor
Eleanor (Fiske) Mooney, a resident of Walpole since 1995, and formerly of Dedham for over 50 years, died Monday, July 4th 2011 at thre Harrington House in Walpole. She was 97. Eleanor was born in Glens Falls, New York, the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Tufts) Fiske. She graduated from Simmons College in Boston with her bachelors degree in science, studied nursing at Mass General Hospital in Boston, and earned her masters degree in nursing from Boston University in 1970. Eleanor started working as a visiting nurse in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston in the late 1930’s. She worked with victims of the Coconut Grove fire before working for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health where she was a supervisor of visiting nurses. Eleanor was a President of the Oakdale School PTO in Dedham when her children were young, and has been the President of the Women’s Alliance at the First Church in Dedham Unitarian, where she was a parishioner. She especially enjoyed going to the Symphony. Eleanor was the wife of the late David Alfred Mooney; the mother of the late Anne Mooney; and the sister of the late Donald W. Fiske, and the late Richard T. Fiske. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Parrish, and her husband Byron, of Brookline; her two sons, Thomas A. Mooney, and his wife Virginia, of Leominster, and Edward F., Mooney, and his wife Marcia Robinson, of Syracuse, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kailen, Tanya and Eleanor Mooney, and Kyle and Amanda Parrish; and her great grandchildren, Aeven and Coulter Mooney. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Sat, Aug 6th at 11 AM at the First Church in Dedham Unitarian, 670 High St, Dedham. Private interment was in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers donatiosn to Old Sturbridge Village, Inc., 1 Old Sturbridge Village Road, Sturbridge, MA 01566 would be appreciated.
