Stahl, John W.
John W. Stahl died at the Parkwell Nursing Home on Truman Highway in Hyde Park on July 4, 2011. He was the third child of George W Stahl Sr. and Ethel H. (Knight) Stahl. He is survived by a sister Dora A McLeod. His brothers George W. and Franklin W. have predeceased him. He leaves a niece Joyce A. McLeod and nephew Warren L. McLeod. He also leaves 3 grandnieces and 3 great grandnieces. John graduated from Hyde Park High School extended program to be a draftsman. He worked a short time at B. F. Sterdavan until he and his brother Franklin were laid off. John was totally deaf in one ear and only had 20 percent hearing in the other ear. He often said it was not good living in a silent world. He had learned to lip-read at Horace Mann School for the deaf, but did not become proficient at it. He raised chickens and sold eggs from their home at 178 Dana Ave, Hyde Park. John also had a saw sharpening business for a time. He took pleasure in just sitting on the front porch and watching the activity. Visiting hours for John will be held Sunday, July 10th from 2 to 4 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Funeral services wil be held Monday at 10 AM at the funeral home followed by burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton, MA.
