MacKillop, Helene M.
Helene Marion (Nay) MacKillop, a Westwood resident for the past three years, and formerly a resident of Walpole for fifty years, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Harrington House in Walpole after a short illness. She was 74. Helene was born July 6, 1936 in Newton, Massachusetts, the only daughter of Kenneth and Helen (Pierce) Nay. She graduated from Roslindale High School with the Class of 1954 and worked for a short time for the State Street Bank before marrying Edward Gordon MacKillop in 1959. Helene later worked as a teacher’s aide with special needs students in Walpole for five years during the 1970’s. She was a former member of the Walpole United Church where she taught Sunday School. Helene was also an avid reader. In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Edward G. MacKillop Jr., and his wife Denise, of Mansfield; and her two granddaughters, Rachel and Hannah MacKillop. Visiting hours will be held from 9 to 10 am Monday at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood followed by her funeral in the funeral home at 10 o clock. The Reverend Christopher Dodge of the First Parish Church of Westwood will officiate. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 would be appreciated.

Dear Family,
I am sorry to hear of Helene’s passing. She was my neighbor for over 15 years. I could not have asked for better neighbors. Her son and her grandchildren brought her so much joy and she would speak of them often. Ed always tended the leaves and snow on the side of my house. Helene was happy to let him do what he wanted outside. She was always happy to see me and asked for my kids all the time as they got older and she saw them less.. I wish you all comfort in fond memories on Country Club Drive. I know I have them..
