Yianasmidis, Georgeos
Georgeos Yianasmidis, a resident of Milton for the past 12 years, and formerly a resident of Roslindale, died Monday, May 23rd, 2011 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was 73. Georgeos served in the Greek Army before emmigrating to the United States in 1969. He worked as a carpenter. Georgeos then changed careers and owned and operated the 3 Star Pizza Shop and Tremont House of Pizza, both in Boston, until his retirement in 2001. In his spare time Georgeos loved to hunt, fish, and garden. He was the husband of the late Athanasia (Liondis) who predeceased him in 1998, and he was the brother of the late Christos and Vasilios Gianasmidis, and the late Evropi Zahos. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Zanetas of Canton, and his son, Chris Yianasmidis of Milton; as well as his six grandchildren, Andriana Savvana Zanetas, Alexandra Zanetas, George Zanetas, George Yianasmidis, Athanasia Yianasmidis, and Savvas Yianasmidis. Visiting hours will be held Thursday 5 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral Home Friday at 9 AM and proceed to St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 39 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale for his funeral service. Burial will follow in the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury.
