Stranahan, David
David Kennedy Warren Stranahan, a resident of Westwood for 45 years, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Norwood Hospital in Norwood after a brief illness. He was 83. David was born December 8, 1927 in Brookline, Massachusetts, a son of Samuel and Jane (Campbell) Stranahan. He graduated from Brookline High School before being inducted in to the US Army, where he served honorably until discharged in 1947. David graduated from the Mass College of Art and became a commercial artist, working for Rustcraft and later Data General until his retirement about 20 years ago. He was a member of the Westwood Association of Fine Artists, the Norwood Art Association, and was an active member of the United Church of Norwood. David is survived by his wife, Joanna (Pearson) Stranahan; his children, Ken Stranahan, and his wife Lisa, of Walpole, and Wendy Gee, and her husband Clyde, of Chicago; his brother, John Stranahan of Marlborough; his sisters, Ruth McCahon of Washington, and Eleanor Beatty of Worcester; and his grandchildren, Sara Stranahan, Samantha Gee, Matthew Gee, Nathaniel Gee, and Kevin Gee. Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 18th from 6 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Saturday at 10 AM at the United Church of Norwood, 595 Washington Street, Norwood followed by burial in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton with military honors.
