Mitchell, Robert J. “Mitch”
Robert James Mitchell, known by most as “Mitch”, a longtime resident of Dedham, died Friday, January 14, 2011. He was 74. Mitch was born in Boston, massachusetts, a son of Vincent H. and Dorothy F. (Major) Mitchell. He grew up in West Roxbury and graduated from West Roxbury High School. Mitch owned and operated Dedham Precious Metals, an iron,scrap metal, gold and silver dealership, for over 20 years. He was predeceased by his wife, the late Jean P. (Hassey) Mitchell and is survived by his children, Robert B. Mitchell of Dedham, Patricia A. Lewis and her husband Ronald of North Attleboro, and Jean M. Mitchell and her husband John Ricci of Norton; and his beloved grandchildren, Krista, Makenzie and R.J. Lewis and Samantha and Johnny Baker. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Evelyn Hassey Navaroli of Maine. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to gather Friday at 10 AM at the funeral home and proceed to St. Mary’s Church, 420 High Street, Dedham for his Mass of Christian burial which will be celebrated at 11 O’clock. Burial will be private. Donations in Mitch’s memory may be made to Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA, 02215
