Doukas, Theodore
Theodore “Ted” Doukas, a resident of West Roxbury for 56 years died Wednesday, Jan 12th, 2011 at the Deutsches Altenheim in West Roxbury after a long illness He was 83. Ted was born May 25, 1927 in Boston, Massqachusetts, a son of Charles and Angelina (Bichekas) Doukas, immigrants from Greece. He graduated from Boston Trade School and worked for many years as a splicing assistant for Boston Edison Company and then Nstar. Ted was the beloved husband of Clara M. (Tosi) Doukas to whom he was married for 56 years. He was the loving brother of Peter, and his wife Helen Doukas, and the late Ida Doukas, all of West Roxburyn and the much loved father and father-in-law of George and Leigh Doukas of Needham and John Doukas and Nora Nicotera of Encinitas, CA. Ted was the devoted grandfather of Matthew and Melanie Doukas of Needham, and loved by his many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Saturday at 10 AM at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 39 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Boston. Visitation with his family from 9 -10 am prior to the funeral at the church. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Parkinson’s Disease Assoc., 135 Parkinson Ave, Staten Island, NY, 10305 or to St. Nectarios Church (address above) would be appreciated.
We thank Ted for being a wonderful, supportive father to us all of his life. He was a quiet man who was all about his family, including his brother Pete, sister Ida, sister in law Helen and his nieces and nephews. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Matthew and Melanie. He was a great listener, and loved to laugh.
