Bowen, Mildred
Mildred Evelyn (White) Bowen, a resident of Norwood for 40 years, died Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 at Norwood Hospital after a brief illness. She was 93. Mildred was born January 16, 1917 in Somerville, Massachusetts, the only child of Delbert and Valasia (Freeman) White. She graduated from Forsyth Dental Institute in Boston and worked as a dental hygenist for Dr. Norton Fishman of Norwood for over 12 years until her retirement about 25 years ago. Mildred had a charitable heart which she expressed by volunteering at blood drives, working as a voting assistant, and as a member of the Norwood Art Association. She was also a member of the United Church in Norwood. Mildred is survived by her son, Miles Bowen of Bennington, Vermont; her daughter, Barbara Sweeny, of Norwood; and her three grandchildren, Philip Bowen, Elizabeth Sweeny, and George Sweeny. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2 PM in the United Church of Norwood, 595 Washington Street, Norwood.
