Spada, Patricia A. (McGrath)
Patricia A. Spada, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at the age of 51. Patty grew up the second youngest of six children. She attended St. Mary’s elementary school, Dedham High School, and then continued her education by graduating from hairdressing school, as well as Bentley College in Waltham, where she earned an Associates degree in Accounting. Patty was a hard worker from the beginning. She was a successful hairdresser, cosmetologist, and accountant. She worked side by side with her husband running the family business, Spada Paving and Landscaping. Patty loved working part time with her daughter, Dee Dee, at Estee Lauder. At the time of her death, she had worked for J.M. Forbes & Co. of Boston in real estate management and accounting for 4 years. She was committed to the community as an active member of St. Mary’s Church, and she volunteered as a Dedham Little League softball coach. She loved her team. Patty was treasurer of The Justin House Inc., a healing ministry for young adults trying to build a better life. The most important thing in Patty’s life was her family. She was a devoted daughter to her parents, John E. and Anna B. (Connolly) McGrath of Dedham, and she enjoyed caring for them. She married her husband, the late William F. Spada, on Valentine’s Day in 1982 but they were together for over 30 years. Patty was an incredible mother and dedicated wife. She loved trips to Cape Cod, shopping in Chatham, long beach days, bike riding the railway trails, and enjoying a good hot fudge sundae. Her laugh was infectious and very unique, one that will be remembered for a long time to come. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her children, William F. Spada Jr. of Dedham and Deirdre Spada of Dedham, who were the pride and joy of her life; her brothers, John E. McGrath III of Dedham, Thomas C., and his wife Angela M. McGrath, of Attleboro, Paul JB, and his wife Karen D. McGrath, of Roslindale; and her sister Sheila M., and her husband Michael Jewel of Randolph. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Friday, December 17th at 10 O’clock at St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St., Dedham, followed by burial in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham. Visiting hours will be Thursday at the church from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. Donations in Patty’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 420 High Street, Dedham, MA 02026, The Justin House Inc., P.O. May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Although I’ve been away from Dedham for many years, Dedham is my home. Patty and I were friends in high school and married one of my relatives. I’ve never forgotten Patty’s smile and her laugh. At times like these, it’s friends and family that will help you through. Please know, that many people, some you don’t even know, are praying for your family, each you, to give you strength. God bless.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Spada and McGrath families.

May you rest in peace, Patty, and Christ hold you in his arms forever.
Patty,
As I hold up Dee-Dee’s picture today against yours I say to myself that’s Patty’s pride and joy, but she is “Our Miracle”. Miss you and R.I.P.
