Bond, Elsie M.

Elsie M. Bond, a resident of Hyde Park, died on November 1, 2010 at the age of 89.  Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Kruhmin and Emily (Christlieb).  Elsie was a graduate of Hyde Park High School, Class of 1939.   She then attended Burdett College for Business and became a market analyst.  She was employed by the Cabot Corporation until her retirement, after 35 years.  Traveling was part of her job and that enabled her to visit various states and countries which she thoroughly enjoyed.   Growing up she loved ice skating and was the captain of the girls basketball team in high school.   For many years she was a volunteer at the Massachusetts General Hospital.  She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood.   Gardening was one of her passions.  She also liked to attend plays and musicals.  She enjoyed her friends.  She was a caring person and pleasant to be around because of her positive outlook on life.  Elsie is survived by her devoted niece, Veronica Moran of Norfolk.  She was predeceased by her husband Warren Bond and her siblings, Ernest Kruhmin and Irene Moran.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday at 11AM at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 24 Berwick St., Norwood.  Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.  Visiting hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols St., Norwood.  Donations in Elsie memory may be made to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th Street, Northwest, Washington, DC  20037.

    Elsie was a wonderful person and always enjoyed a good laugh. I was blessed to have been with her for over 2 years helping her and enjoying her company.She loved life
    and going out to eat and she will truly be missed.

    Life long neighbor and dear friend. I will miss you, our face to face chats, and our long telephone conversations. The neighborhood and will not be the same without you. Me, Leo and Leanne are missing you already. You are now and always will be in our thoughts and prayers.

    Elsie was a very kind and caring person. She cared about others more than she did herself. She never complained during her recent illness.

    I was lucky to have known her for 15 years.

    She will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
