Abdou, David J.
David John Abdou Sr., a resident of Foxboro for 10 years, and formerly a longtime resident of West Roxbury, died Friday, April 2nd, 2010 at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood after a long illness. He was 82. David was born Feb 24, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts, the youngest child of Joseph and Edna (Mather) Abdou, immigrants from Lebanon. David was a graduate of Boston Trade High School and served in the US Navy during World War Two. He was an auto mechanic and the owner of Abdou Auto Repair Skop in West Roxbury until his retirement 20 years ago. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in West Roxbury. David was the husband of the late Lillian Michael (Solomon) Abdou, to whom he had been married for 55 years; and the brother of John, Jimmy, Peter, Marion and Sadie. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia E. Elliott of Wrentham; his three sons, David J. Jr. of Westwood, William C. of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Richard J. of Foxboro; as well as 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High St., Westwood. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home at 8 am Tuesday morning and proceed to Our Lady of Cedars of Lebanon Church, 61 Rockwood Street, Jamaica Plain for the funeral service at 9 o clock. Interment will be in New Westwood Cemetery with military honors.
I have so many good memories of sitting and conversing with David at the various auctions. He was always a joy to be with. His death will leave a hole in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Dear family of your Dad, Uncle Dave.
I am very sad about the passing of Uncle Dave. He will always have a very special place in my heart. I will miss him dearly as I do Aunt Lila. I hope they are in a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Love Judy and family.

I was one of David’s nurses at the Ellis. He always spoke of how much he loved his family. He shared stories of his life with staff and other resident’s. David will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
