Badger, Mabel L.
Mabel Louise (Packard) Badger, formerly of Mansfield, Attleboro and Westwood, died Monday, December 30, 2024 at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Facility in North Easton. She was 95. Mabel was born October 10, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts the daughter of Ernest Francis and Dorothy Vaughan (West) Packard. She graduated from Westwood High School with the Class of 1946. Mabel was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Westwood, and for many years she volunteered at the Church’s annual fair. She and her husband also belonged to the couples club. Mabel was employed by Noble & Greenough School as manager of the bookstore. After moving to Mansfield, she became the receptionist at the Mansfield Cooperative Bank. She enjoyed word search puzzles, crocheting, and was an accomplished seamstress, making wedding gowns and prom dresses. She was also a talented cake decorator, having made wedding and special birthday cakes. Mabel was the wife of the late Allen David Badger whom she married on April 29, 1946 in Nashua, New Hampshire. He predeceased her in 1993. She was the sister of the late Ernest Packard and the late Herbert Packard. Mabel is survived by her two sons, A. David Badger Jr. of Brockton, and Robert K. Badger, and his wife Patricia, of North Attleboro; her four daughters, Bonnie J. Fancy, and her husband Ernest, of Holland, Massachusetts, Jodelle G. Balestra, and her husband Peter, of Ocala, Florida, the Reverend Diane L. Badger of North Easton, and Wendy J. Lewis, and her husband John, of Walpole; as well as 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, January 2nd, 2025 from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 11th, 2025 at 10 am at the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood. Interment will be in Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.

Sending heartfelt condolences to you all with the passing of your amazing mother. I have memories of her marshalling her family, making sure things were done, cooking massive meals. She was amazing! It’s one of the passages in life we must go through and one of the very hardest. Please know I send prayers your way.
