Albers, John G.
John G. Albers, a longtime resident of Westwood, died peacefully at home on November 27, 2024. He was 94 years old. John was born on January 9, 1930, in Pipestone, MN one of ten children born of Mary and George Albers (deceased), Villard, MN. John is survived by his wife of 73 years, Claire, his much loved daughters Linda Albers-Nunno and her husband Thomas Nunno of North Falmouth, MA, Catherine Albers of Santa Fe, NM, and Theresa Albers and her husband Joseph Breen of Westborough, MA; his adored grandchildren Austin (Cody) Nunno, Liliya and Nina Kronrad, and Sydney Breen. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Marvin, Jerry, Roger, and Bobby Albers.
John left Minnesota as a young man to serve in the United States Navy, a time he always remembered fondly. While serving in Newport, RI, he met his wife Margaret (Claire) Albers (McLellan). They were married on December 29, 1951. Before settling in Westwood, they lived in Jamaica Plain in a 3 story house John restored himself. John was a talented fabrication engineer and started two sheet metal manufacturing businesses as well as worked in the private sector. John loved the outdoors, gardening, and spending time with his wife at their second home in West Barnstable, MA. The family loved spending summers 4-wheeling and walking along Sandy Neck Beach.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday December 8th from 2-3:30 PM at Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood, MA. A short service will be conducted there at 3:30. Private interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dana-Faber Cancer Institute.
