MacKinnon, Sandra L.
Sandra Louise “Sandy” MacKinnon passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Warwick, RI with loved ones by her side. Born in Boston on April 15, 1941, she was the daughter of late Dwight and Charlotte Hutchins. Sandy grew up in Middleton, MA and later moved to Roslindale to raise her family. Sandy was predeceased by her husband Fraser N. MacKinnon, with whom she had celebrated 51 years of marriage.
In addition to her beloved husband, Sandy is survived by her daughter Jeanine L. Hopkins and her husband Brian of Weymouth, son Charles W. MacKinnon and his wife Mayette of Hooksett, NH, daughter Jessica L MacKinnon-Allen of Portland, ME, daughter Andrea G. Abdou and her husband David of Ludlow, and daughter Dawn C. MacKinnon-Ladino and her husband James of Warwick, RI and grandchildren; Brian, Charles, Felicia, Ryan, Crystal, Seth, James Jr, Jared, Joseph, Samuel, Jonathan, Jude, Justina and Jesse and great-grandchildren; Jayden and Lucas.
Before her retirement, Sandy worked as an Administrative Assistant for the MA Rehabilitation Commission and the Boston Medical Center. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Westwood MA. Sandy thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 30 years. She held the position of Worthy Matron five times, serving three in the Wistaria Chapter and two in the Contentment Chapter. She was a member and Past President of Rosalie Rebekah Lodge No. 116 and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellow of MA. Also, Sandy was a Past Mother Advisor for Needham Assembly #57 in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls.
Sandy loved to sew, crochet, and knit wonderful gifts for family and friends and enjoyed donating many items to various hospitals and fundraising events. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed visiting local libraries for their reading events and knitting clubs.
Family and friends may call between 4-8 PM on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood, MA with a Rebekah Lodge service at 4 pm and an Eastern Star Service at 6 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 11 AM at First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood MA.
