Karl Davis Riemer, a resident of Jamaica Plain, died Friday, August 4, 2023 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 73. Karl was born June 6, 1950 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the four children of Dr. Karl and Louise (Crowninshield) Riemer. He was a graduate of the Dexter School in Brookline, the Middlesex School in Concord , and attended Boston University and Emerson College, both in Boston. His career choices reflected his various passions, including the design and installation of high-end sound systems, and logging hundreds of weekly miles as a bicycle courier. Karl was a voracious reader who didn’t hesitate to share his strong opinions on local, national, and international politics while simultaneously mastering the art of computer golf and other digital competitions. In spite of a 26 year battle with cancer, Karl Davis never lost his zeal and appreciation for the gift of life. He will be deeply missed for his insights, musical knowledge, advice on motorcycle trips, humor, generosity, and magnetic personality. Karl was the son of the late Dr. Karl Riemer and the brother of the late Henry F. Riemer. He is survived by his mother, Louise C. Riemer of Chestnut Hill; his two sisters, Louise C. Riemer of West Roxbury, and Elizabeth R. Reece of Needham; his nephew, Schuyler S. Reece of Boston; a niece, Lily C. Loeb of Oyster Bay, New York; as well as a long list of dear friends, and loyal caregivers. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the BIDMC Cancer Center Fund, Philanthropy Office, 529 Main St., 4th Floor, Charlestown, MA 02129 or to the MSPCA Angell.
