Buttlar, George F.
George Frederick Buttlar, a resident of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and formerly of Mount Vernon, Maine, and of Dedham for over 30 years, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Providence Rhode Island Veteran’s Hospital. He was 94. George was born April 8, 1929 in Dedham, Massachusetts, a son of John C. and Katherine (Weitz) Flanagan Buttlar. After his graduation from Dedham High School he enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Hollis until his honorable discharge in 1952. George worked as a truck driver for Foster Brothers Concrete Block Company in Westwood for 14 years until his retirement in 1977 after which he moved to Mount Vernon Maine and worked for 10 years for Gagne Concrete Block in Belgrade, Maine. George was the former husband of the late Dorothy Mae (Knecht); the father of the late George F. Buttlar Jr; and the brother of the late Arthur, John, and Herbert Buttlar and the late Elaine O’Rourke. He is survived by his daughters, Jean M. Bator of Pawtucket, and Dorothy M. Buttlar of East Providence, Rhode Island; his sister Marjorie Floyd of East Walpole; as well as 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 24th from 9 to 11 am at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11 o clock. Interment will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. In lieu of flowers donations to `the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108 would be appreciated.
