I was so sorry to read of Marja’s passing. I worked with her many years ago at NE Deaconess Hospital on the IV team. Although I only worked with her for a short time, she left a lasting impression on me. She was so kind and patient with me as a new and over my head nurse, there were many nights when she coached me along and taught me so many things about being a good IV nurse. To this day, I take her words of “you can only peel one potato at a time” as wise words. She will be sadly misses.
Marja was a gift to anyone who met her. I was fortunate to being one of them at NEDH and BI Deaconess Medical Center.
Marja and I met when we were in nursing school together in Gardner. She was so warm and friendly and so full of fun. Although we were many miles apart after graduation, I will always remember her smile and the memories we shared.
Rest In Peace , dear Marja.
My late mother Mary, also a former Deaconess nurse, considered Marja one of her best friends for life. Our families both lived in the same apartment building on Autumn Street and we were great friends. I remember when they got their home in West Roxbury. Marja took care of me when my little brother was born 50 years ago. Eric, Christopher, and I would get together for playdates often. We have lived far apart for many decades now, but through my mother I feel like I never stopped knowing her. She was so kind. I’m very sorry to learn of her passing and send my heartfelt belated condolences.
