Anderson, Gerald
Gerald “Gerry” Anderson, a resident of North Salem, New Hampshire, and formerly of Norwood and Roslindale, passed away peacefully October 12, 2022 in Walpole, Massachusetts. He was 80. Gerry was born April 10, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts the son of Herbert and Anna (Bailis) Anderson. He grew up in Roslindale and graduated from Boston English High School before enlisting in the US Navy. He served honorably for three years until his honorable discharge as an Aviation Fire Control Technician 3rd Class in 1962. Gerry went on to earn his Associates degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Gerald worked successfully in numerous high tech positions, ultimately leading to his establishment of Anderson Appliance, which he ran as the owner and proprietor. His professional successes were surpassed only by his passion for Volkswagens, which led to his founding and serving as a president of The Bug Club of southern New Hampshire. Gerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda A. (Wickman) Anderson; his brothers-in-law, William Wickman, and his wife Louise, of Norwood, and Charles Wickman, and his wife Rosemary, of Southborough; as well as many nieces and nephews. Gerald’s congenial demeanor and gregarious nature will be sorely missed by his many relatives and friends in southern New Hampshire and eastern Massachusetts. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood for visitation with Gerry’s family Wednesday, October 19th from 9:30 to 10:30 am and then proceed with the family for Gerry’s Funeral Mass in St. Denis Church, 157 Washington Street, (Rt 1A) Islington at 11 am. RIP good friend. The VW scene won’t be the same.woth out you. Thanks you for your service to our country and to helping the many people that passed your way.
Gerry always had a joke to tell. He had such a caring heart. I will think of him every time I see a VW. I will miss his wit and humor the most. He always livened up our get togethers. Gerry will be sorely missed and I pray that he is at rest with the Father.
Gerry was a lifelong friend. I met Gerry in 1968 while we were both employed at Honeywell. He told me a joke and asked me to pull a finger. Our friendship grew over the years. We cruised together, drank together, did bathroom remodels together, put several roofs on his different homes and sided his New Hampshire property. He and Linda became family. My children still refer to Uncle Gerry & Auntie Linda. Gerry taught my son how to drive when my son was only two on a gift electric car. He and Linda became the god parents to my youngest daughter. Even when we moved to North Carolina, we remained close. Talked almost every day and either he or I would trek to the other’s state for a get together. And could we laugh. I will miss the Gerry that I knew. God Bless.
Linda,
We just now heard of Gerry’s passing. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. We both just mentioned about our times at the Elms in NH when we all went for the weekend and the black flies were out and Gerry would wear his hat with a netting around it to protect himself from them while sitting on the roof. Still makes us laugh. That and so many more funny stories. Good memories! Sending our best to you Linda. Love, Sharmon and Bobby
Linda, we are both very sorry to hear that Gerry has passed. Both of us remember so many good times at The Elms in NH! Gerry wearing his hat covered with netting to stop the black flies, sitting on the roof of The Elms, and laughing at us getting attacked by the black flies. So many good memories. I’m sure he will keep everyone on the other side laughing. Love, Sharmon and Bobby
