Oelschlagel, Phyllis I.
Phyllis Ione (Drake) Oelschlagel, a resident of Walpole, died Saturday, September 24, 2022 at her home in Walpole. She was 94. Phyllis was born March 27, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of thee three daughters of Leon and Gertrude Irene (Allen) Drake. She earned her associate degree from the Bentley School of Accounting and worked in the trust department of the Shawmut Bank in Boston for a few years, before her employment by Plimpton Press in Norwood. She retired in 1994 after working for 10 years as a bookkeeper for Maple Grove Manor nursing home in Norwood. Phyllis was a former member of the League of Women Voters in Walpole and worked on the campaign of Senator Edward Brook. She was the wife of the late George John Oelschlagel, and the sister of the late Bernice Urquhardt. Phyllis is survived by her son, Dean Scott Oelschlagel, and his wife Cheryl, of Halifax; her daughter, Kim Galvin, of Walpole; her sister, Arlene Gemba, of Norwood, and her granddaughter, Kerry Anne Armstrong, of Centerville. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, September 29th from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home 649 High Street, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Friday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by interment in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
Aunt Phyllis along with Uncle George were my godparents and took that responsibility very seriously. I will always remember and be forever grateful for their love and support, particularly during my “Wonder Bread” years.
She will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
