Thompson, Franklin B.
Franklin Burton Thompson, a resident of Westwood since 1966, and formerly of West Quincy and Wollaston, died Tuesday, November 24th, 2009 at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale. He died on the day before his 81st birthday. Frank was born November 25, 1928 in Braintree, Massachusetts, the youngest son of Frank and Eileen (MacNamara) Thompson. He graduated from Braintree High School and worked for 40 years as a salesman for the S D Prince Company of Boston, until his retirement in 1985. Frank was a devoted family man who enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Centers in Westwood and Walpole, and was a lifelong Red Sox fan. He is survived by his wife, Caroline A. (Monti); his son, Frank M. Thompson of Westwood; his two daughters, Deborah E. Gallagher, and her husband James, of Northboro, and Brenda J. Cook, and her husband Brad, of Punta Gorda, Florida; and his four adored grandchildren, Kelly A. Gallagher, Sean K. Gallagher, Clay D. Cook, and Austin B. Cook. He was the brother of the late Robert Thompson and the late Harry Thompson. Visiting hours will be held Friday, November 27th from 10 AM to Noon at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood followed by a funeral service at noon with the Reverend Sheldon Keller of the First Baptist Church of Westwood officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. Donations in Frank’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, Massachusetts, 01701 would be appreciated.
