Rovena Caroline (Nourse) Cistoldi, a resident of Hyde Park, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Inn at Silver Lake in Kingston after a long illness. She was 92. Rovena was born February 24, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only daughter of William Henry and Elonia Margaret (Ross) Nourse. Rovena graduated from Hyde Park High School and started her working career with the New Haven Railroad before moving to the Moore-McCormack Cruise Line where she travelled extensively. She then worked as a waitress for The Engineer’s Club of Boston before working as a certified nursing assistant at the Boston Home in Boston. She was a member of Christ Church in Hyde Park where she served on the Altar Guild for 65 years. Rovena was also a member of the Hyde Park Historical Society and the Friends of the Hyde Park library. She enjoyed reading, travelling, and was a patron of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Rovena was the wife of the late Francis Cistoldi, and the sister of the late George Ross Nourse. She is survived by her nephews, William Nourse of Marshfield and David Nourse of Pembroke; and her nieces, Carolyn Bosso of Georgetown, Maine, and Janet Clark of Wells, Maine. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 59 Court Street, Dedham, Ma followed by interment in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham. Michael G.E. Winbourne, a lawyer in Dedham for the Firm Winbourne, Hampe and Sheehan, and who later ran his own law office, died Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, Connecticut surrounded by his family. He was 64. Michael was born May 13, 1954 in Needham, Massachusetts, one of the five children of Attorney George E. and Barbara M. (Oberlander) Winbourne. He was a longtime resident of Dedham who recently called Deep River Connecticut home. Michael was a volunteer and strong supporter of Dedham Youth Basketball, In addition he was a former Town Meeting Member and a former member of the ADA committee in Dedham. He is survived by his brother, Peter L. Winbourne of North Attleboro; and his three sisters, Cherylann W. Sheehan, Esq, and her husband David, of Dedham, Jodi W. Kaftan, and her husband Charles, of DePere, Wisconsin, and Dawn M.W. Norton of Ringe, New Hampshire. Service and interment will be private. Marion Elaine (Wagner) Johnstone, a resident of Nashua, New Hampshire for the past 15 years, and formerly of East Walpole, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Corville Nursing Home in Nashua, New Hampshire. She was 95. Marion was born May 25, 1923 in Waltham, Massachusetts, one of the three daughters of Earl and Mary (Warner) Wagner, immigrants from Nova Scotia, Canada. She graduated from Waltham High School with the Class of 1940 and earned her Associates Degree from Fisher Jr. College, where she was a member of the Kappa Phi sorority, in 1942. Marion retired in 1982 as Secretary of All Saints Church in Brookline. She formerly worked as a secretary for the Church of the Advent and of the Braeburn Country Club. Marion was a loving wife and mother who was always supportive of her family and friends. She enjoyed watching the Red Sox, reading, sewing, and spending time at their home in Siesta Key, Florida. Marion was the wife of the late Richard Carlton Johnstone for 65 years; the mother of the late Robert Johnstone; and the sister of the late Marjorie Cox and the late Pauline Flodstrom. She is survived by her daughter JoAnn Vitali, and her husband Lawrence, of Nashua, New Hampshire, and her son, Richard J. Johnstone, and his wife Kathleen,of Weare, New Hampshire; her three grandchildren, Lauren Sobol, and her husband Sasha, of Centreville, Virginia, Steven Vitali, and his wife Susanna, of Rye, New Hampshire, and Jeffrey Johnstone of Hooksett, New Hampshire; and her six great grandchildren, Ela, Alex, Anna, Gus, Mila, and Aida. Private interment will be held in Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham where she will be laid to rest with her husband Dick, the love of her life and best friend since she was thirteen.
Bruce Mason Hannon, a resident of Walpole, died Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Stanley Tippet Home in Needham. He was 65. Bruce was born October 20, 1953 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, a son of Frederick Daniel and Isobel M. (Easton) Hannon. He graduated from Westwood High School with the Class of 1971 and earned his Bachelor degree from Babson College. Bruce worked as the Chief Information Officer for Stop and Shop for 25 years. He was a member of KII and enjoyed golf, his grandchildren, and visits to the Cape. Bruce is survived by his wife, Diane Marie (Jacobs) Hannon; his three children, Bruce M. Hannon Jr., and his wife Michelle, of Dedham, Robert Charles Hannon, and his wife Jessica, of Winchester, and Jenny Abdou, and her husband Dave, of Westwood; and his seven grandchildren, Andrew, Isobel, Colin, Jake, Avery, Lexi, and Aaron. He is also survived by his brother, Frederick D. Hannon, and his wife Sherrill, of New Hampshire, and his sister, Leslie Munroe, and her husband Doug, of Norwood. Services and interment in New Westwood Cemetery will be private. Charlotte Marie (Willett) Langione, a resident of Dedham for 65 years, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at her home in Dedham. She was 89. Charlotte was born April 18, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of Charles Francis and Bridget Gertrude (Philben) Willett. She worked in the office at Grainger’s in Westwood for 18 years. Charlotte was the wife of the late Mario Angelo Langione; the sister of the late Charles R. Willett, Helen T. Hoban, Joan A. Gorrell, and Marilyn E. Logan; and the mother-in-law of the late Joshua McKenna. She is survived by her daughter Jean M. McKenna of Kingston; her sons, Nicholas G. Langione, and his wife Tricia, of Canton, and Mark C. Langione of Dedham; and her three grandchildren, Kate Langione, Lauren McKenna, and Evan McKenna. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 13th from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Kevin Paul Palmisciano, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Wednesday, March 6th at his home in Dedham. He was 61. Kevin was born December 30, 1957 at the Faulkner Hospital in Boston, the son of the late Enrico “Henry” Palmisciano and Dorothy June (McGrath) Palmisciano. He graduated from Dedham High School with the Class of 1975. In addition to his mother, Kevin is survived by his brother, Dennis R. Palmisciano of Boston, and his sister, Ann B. Fallon of Foxboro. He was the brother of the late Gerard W. Palmisciano and the late Mary Weibrecht. Visiting hours will be held Monday, March 11th from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street Dedham followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 420 High Street, Dedham at 11 o clock. It is with great sadness that Beatrice Bentz Dole announces that her beloved husband, William Page Dole, died peacefully at his home in Westwood on March 7, 2019 at the age of 90. He had been treated for heart disease since 1987 and was grateful for his extended rich and rewarding life. He was born in Melrose in May 1928, raised his family in Wellesley and later resided in Weston, Osterville, Boston and Westwood. Bill graduated from Browne and Nichols in 1946. He was a proud graduate of Harvard, Class of 1949. Bill stayed very engaged in Harvard Class ’49 activities and remained an active member of the Harvard Club. He was the owner-publisher of weekly newspapers in the Boston and Lowell areas including: The Cambridge Chronicle, the oldest surviving weekly paper in the US established in 1846, The Somerville Journal, The Watertown Press and The Merrimack Valley Advertiser. As President of the Accredited Home Newspapers of America he helped consolidate three competing national trade associations into The Suburban Newspapers of America and served as its first president. He was active with the New England Press Association and elected to its Hall of Fame. In Cambridge, where he published the weekly Cambridge Chronicle, he was on the Executive Committee of the Cambridgeport Savings Bank. He was the first recipient of the Cambridge YMCA’s Spirit, Mind and Body Award and enjoyed 43 years of perfect attendance in the Cambridge Rotary. Bill traveled extensively, visiting all fifty states and all continents except Antarctica. An early running enthusiast, Bill started jogging in 1962 and ran in four Boston Marathons. He earned membership in the New England 4,000 Footer Club by climbing all 65 peaks. He was a volunteer in many health study groups including the Framingham Heart Study. Physical fitness programs were an important part of his life. Bill was a keen golfer and a long-time member of the Brae Burn Country Club, Wianno Club of the Cape and the Bay State Senior Golf Association. He ran the 1975 United States Women’s Amateur Golf Championship with his first wife, Johnnie. Bill was also a member of the Duxbury Yacht Club, the Chilton Club of Boston and White Mountain Ski Runners. Throughout his life Bill was an avid bridge player. Despite his many activities and interests, family was always his top priority. He married his beloved, devoted second wife, Beatrice Bentz Dole, in 2015 in Westwood. They enjoyed a very special loving and caring partnership for over four years at Fox Hill Village. He is survived by his son William (Kip), daughter-in-law Vivian, grandson William and granddaughter Alyssa all of Wellesley, a sister Susan Dole of Brookline and a daughter, Elizabeth, in Florida. His step-children, Martin Bentz and Helena Bentz Hartnett, and their spouses (Wafae and Ken), their children and grandchildren, also mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his first wife, Audrey J. Dole (1955-2014), and sister, Dorothy Lawry of Melrose. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 2 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 59 Court Street, Dedham. Horst Friedrich Ambiel, 79, of West Roxbury, died on February 20, 2019. Horst was a man who enjoyed simple pleasures. The most important things to him were his home and his family. Born in Ludwigshafen, Germany, to Daniel F. and Lieselotte Ambiel, Horst was a talented soccer player and trained as a mechanic in Mannheim. He emigrated to the US in 1959 and became a citizen in 1965. He was happily married to his beloved Isbell for 52 years. She predeceased him March 2018. He is survived by their daughters, Ann M. Ambiel of West Roxbury, and Christina Donald (husband Colin) of Dundee, Scotland. He is also survived by his sisters, Hannelore LaQua and Waltraud Barriere of Arizona and their children and grandchildren. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mildred and Ronald Arntz of Westwood, MA. Horst worked as a mechanic and bus driver for Sansone Motors. He later worked in the Transportation Department for the Boston Gas Company in West Roxbury for 27 years and was a proud member of the 12003 Steelworkers’ Union. Horst was a sports fan. He enjoyed horse racing, baseball, soccer, football and hockey. He was quick to laugh and always had a twinkle in his eye. He made friends easily and will be dearly missed. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at The Gardens Cemetery in West Roxbury on Saturday, March 16 at 1:00 pm. Adelaide “Ann” (Devlin) Berlo passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the age of 94. She was the loving wife of Donald Berlo until his death in 1995. She is survived by their three children: DonnaJean Downer and her husband Jim; Diane Love and her husband John; and Robert Berlo and his wife Eve; as well as grandchildren Jacki Berlo and her husband Mike Schreiner, Diana Berlo, Tina Love, Ryan Love, Nicole Downer and Jamie Downer. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Loretta (Berlo) Totino and her husband Lou, and several nieces and nephews. Ann grew up in West Roxbury and lived most of her life in Westwood. She and Don enjoyed countless hours on their boats where they entertained friends and family. They traveled together to many places, including a cruise on the QE II. After his passing, Ann continued to live independently in the family home until she was 91. During that time, she led the entire family on trips to Aruba and Paradise Island, and enjoyed numerous vacations with family members to Bermuda, Hawaii, Las Vegas and other destinations. She also displayed her gambling prowess on trips to Foxwoods, winning dozens of jackpots. Each year, Ann presided over the family Easter egg hunt for all of her grandchildren. Later in life she looked forward to the many visits by family members, all of whom will miss her sorely. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass Tuesday at 10 am at the Church of St. Denis, 157 Washington St., Westwood followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Boston. Ruth A. (Randall) Edmands, a longtime resident of Norwood, died Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood. She was 91. Ruth was born June 8, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts a daughter of Leon and May J. (Richardson) Randall. Ruth was a former professional dance instructor and worked for 14 years as manager at the Charles River Country Club until her retirement in 1992. After retiring she opened and owned Creative Happenings, a well known craft shop in Norwood. Ruth enjoyed reading, tennis, long bike rides, and was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan. She is survived by her son, Stephen Edmands, and his wife Kathleen, of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire; her two grandsons, Bob, and his wife Krista of Weare, New Hampshire, and Brian of Missoula, Montana; and four great grandsons, Bobby, Oliver, Jason, and Thomas. She was the mother of the late Richard “Dick” Edmands ; and sister of the late Leon Randall Jr., the late Dorothy Raymond, and the late Elizabeth Silver. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
