Caruso, Frederick

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick F. Caruso of Dedham, Massachusetts on April 15, 2024.  Fred was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, in-law and friend.

Fred proudly served both his country and his community, first as a U.S Army veteran, and then for the next 40 years as a Patrolman with the Dedham Police Department.  Having lived and worked almost his entire life in Dedham, Fred was well-known throughout town.  He loved serving as a police officer and whether it was Officer Caruso, Fred or Freddy, it seems that everyone knew him, and he knew everyone. Fred genuinely enjoyed being around people. His knack of being able to talk to anyone, together with his sense of humor, gave him the ability to make a bad situation better, and a good time great.

Fred deeply loved and cherished both his immediate and extended family.  No matter what, there was nothing he would not do for them. Whether you succeeded or failed, it did not matter to Fred.  You could always count on him to be there helping, encouraging and occasionally pointing out the error of your ways.  He was so proud of his wife, his children and his grandchildren and he made sure the world knew it.

Fred was predeceased by his parents Orlando Caruso of Oregon and Anna Cannata of Readville, MA, as well as his sister, Patricia Schifone of Hudson, Florida.

He sadly leaves behind the family he so much adored, namely his wife Sandy as well as his children and grandchildren:  Gina Mohan, her husband Scott, and their children Christina and Ava, of Apopka, Florida; Roger Caruso, his wife Monica, and their sons Preston and Trent, of Chuluota, Florida; Michele Walsh, her husband Bill, and their children Alyssa, Julia, Will and Leah, of Dedham, Massachusetts; and Michael Caruso of Dedham, Massachusetts. Fred also leaves behind his brother Roger Caruso of Franklin, Massachusetts, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

None of us will ever forget Fred and how much he meant to each and every one of us.  We all have our stories about Fred that make us smile with every telling.  He will be forever missed but will always live on in our hearts and memories.

In lieu of formal services, we hope that you will join us to honor his memory on Sunday, May 5th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the American Legion Post 18, 155 Eastern Avenue, Dedham, MA.
