Jones, Stella

On Thursday, October 10, 2019, Stella M. Jones, age 86, Passed away in Roslindale, Massachusetts, at Hebrew Senior Life. She is survived by her son, Brian A. Jones, of Massachusetts; her daughters; Charlene R. Jones, of Massachusetts; Cerise S. Brogan and her husband James Brogan, of Massachusetts; Rebecca J. Jones, of Massachusetts, and her grandson Anthony C. Pantages, of Massachusetts. She is also survived by many other extended family members and close friends, including Cynthia Hickson and Gene Austin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Jones, of Massachusetts; her sisters, Marilyn Ellis, of Texas; Barbara Schreiber, of Massachusetts; Claudia Tonsberg of Florida; and her brother Billy Henderson, of Florida. Stella was born on December 22,1932 in Waltham, MA, to parents William Henderson and Ruth Whitaker Henderson. As a young girl she dreamed of becoming and opera singer and had a lovely singing voice. Unfortunately, she choose not go to school for performing arts in order to take care of her mother, who had ailing health due to diabetes, but she still loved to sing for family and close friends. A few years later she married her loving husband, Charles H Jones in Dover, NH and together they had their children, Brian, Charlene, Cerise, and Rebecca while living in Massachusetts. She worked for many years at Jordan Marsh in Boston before retiring with her husband. Later in life she enjoyed going to both Rogerson Communities adult day center and to the Stony Brook community center, where she made many good friends and who she loved to laugh with and sing for. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. A Service is scheduled for 11am, on October 22, at Roslindale Congregational Church, 25 Cummins Hwy, Roslindale, MA 02131, with a reception to follow after. Pastor Jean Vandergrift will officiate. DelloIacono, Diane B.

Diane B. (Seymour, McLaughlin) DelloIacono, a long time resident of Dedham, passed away at the age of 84 on October 6, 2019. Born in Rumford, Maine, she was the daughter of Elizabeth A. (Welch) Flanders, Reginald L. Flanders and Donald Seymour. Mrs. DelloIacono was a Registered Nurse before retiring. She was an active member of the Dedham VFW Post 2017 for over 45 years. During that time she was the Past VFW Auxiliary State President, Past VFW District 5 Auxiliary President and Past President of the VFW Post 2017 Auxiliary and also a member of the American Legion Post 18 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. DelloIacono was the beloved wife of the late Carmen E. DelloIacono, Sr. and together they raised 8 children; Daniel McLaughlin and his wife Donna of Dedham, Elizabeth Cabit and her husband Gary of Maine, Carmen DelloIacono, Jr., Charles Langley DelloIacono, Richard DelloIacono and his wife Lynda, and Deana DelloIacono and her husband Jack Troisi, all of Dedham. She was predeceased by 3 of her children, Karen MacDougall, Virginia Bisnaw and Mark DelloIacono. She was the devoted grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 9AM to 11AM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. A graveside service will follow at 12PM at St. Michael Cemetery in Boston, MA.

Colwell, Carole J.

Carole Jeanne (Adams) Colwell, a longtime resident of Westwood, died Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts.  She was 84.  Carole was born November 5, 1934 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Vernon Tarbox and Hazel Ethel (Coleman) Adams.  She graduated from Needham High School with the Class of 1952 and attended Chamberlain College.  After the birth of her children she was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout den leader.  She taught Sunday School at the Islington Community Church where she was a longtime member. When the Islington Church closed she became an active member of the First Baptist Church in Westwood. After raising her family, Carole worked for many years at Mitre Corp in Bedford.  She was very proud of the contributions she made as a lead programmer in the development of the AWAC radar system used by the US military. Carole was active with many charities and in her down time enjoyed cooking, sewing, and boating at their home on Lake Winnipesauke where she spent every Summer since 1957.  Carole is survived by her husband of 65 years, Calvin Wesley Colwell; her son, Scott W. Colwell, and his wife Julie, of Medfield; her daughter Laurie Colwell of Palm City, Florida; her four grandchildren, Jennifer Benson, Stephanie Diamond, Ryan Colwell, and Cameron Colwell; her great granddaughter, Quinn Colwell; her niece, Linda Stufflebean, and her nephew, Michael Sabo.  Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, October 9th from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, (Route 109) Westwood.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Thursday, October 10th at 11 am at the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood.  Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to the Lakes Region Conservation Trust, PO Box 766, Center Harbor, NH, 03226 would be appreciated.

Arena, Dianne M.

Dianne Marie (Ziergiebel) Arena, a longtime resident of Westwood, died Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston after a long illness. She was 74.  Dianne was born March 1, 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Carl Albert Jr. and Rose Marie (Connolly) Ziergiebel.  She grew up in Westwood and graduated from Westwood High School with the Class of 1963.  Dianne was a longtime employee providing clerical services to the Gillette Corporation in their Boston office.  She is survived by two brothers, John J. Ziergiebel of North Attleboro and James M. Ziergiebel of Westwood, and a sister, Margaret Borax of Uxbridge.  She was the sister of the late Carl A. Ziergiebel III.  Visitation will be held Friday, October 11th, 2019 from 10 to 11 am prior to a funeral service at 11 am at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Winter Street in Norwood. In Lieu of flowers donations to the Jimmy Fund would be appreciated.

Griffin, John C.

Lt. Col. John C. Griffin passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at his home in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 30, 2019. Jack served a distinguished 24-year career in the United States Army Chemical Corps, including overseas service in South Korea, West Germany, and with the United Nations Special Commission in Iraq, and is a recipient of the Legion of Merit. After retiring from the Army he became a board-certified mathematics teacher at Walter Wellborn High School in Alabama where during a 20-year career he was twice named the District Teacher of the Year. While living in Anniston, Alabama, he served on the Vestry at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church. He was well loved by friends, family, former students, and by his partners at the bridge table. Jack is survived by brother Robert in Arkansas, sister Sherry in Indiana, and son John in Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers his family requests donations be made to Black Cat Rescue (599 Broadway #2, Somerville, MA 02145; (blackcatrescue.com), from whom he adopted one of his many companion cats.

Bradley, Richard

Richard M. “Dick” Bradley, a longtime resident of Westwood passed away in his home on September 29, 2019, as the age of 82.  Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1959 and served until his honorable discharge in 1965.  He received his B.S, for Fitchburg State in electrical engineering in 1980.  He worked for Raytheon for 37 years.  He enjoyed golfing, science fiction and classic cars.  Richard is survived by his two beloved daughters, Nicole Andrea Groves of Foxboro and Laura Ann Fountaine of Natick. He is further survived by his five grandchildren; Sophie, Grace, Jacqueline, James and Katerina.  He will be forever missed.

Lambou, Agatha

Agatha (Tsolias) Lambou a resident of Roslindale, died Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was 59.  Agatha was born August 14, 1960 in Kastoria, Greece, the daughter of Alexander and Afrodite (Koumbouris) Tsolias.  Agatha was the beloved mother of Afrodity Tuplin of Attleboro, and the dear sister of John and Apostolos Tsolias, both of Roslindale, Vasilios Tsolias of Westwood, and the late Anastasia Dimitrakopoulos. She was the loving grandmother of Blake, Aeris, and Aeson Tuplin. Visiting hours will be held Thursday 6-8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Ave, Roslindale. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home, Friday at 8:30 am and proceed to St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 39 Belgrade Ave, Roslindale for her funeral service at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in The Gardens Cemetery, Baker St., West Roxbury.

Cicchetti, Albert

Albert A . “Al” Cicchetti, a lifelong resident of Dedham, passed away on September 30, 2019 at the age of 98.   Al was the beloved son of the late Frank and Cecilia (Scarcella) Cicchetti. He was a member of the International Order of Oddfellows in Braintree, the Dedham Retired Mens Club, and the Dedham Bowling League. He also enjoyed tennis and racketball.  Al served honorably during WWII in the United States Navy, and was discharged in 1946 as a Gunner’s Mate, Second Class.  He was the loving brother of Florence F. Heeder of Dedham, and predeceased by his siblings Carlo, Joseph, Lawrence, Rose, William, Helen, and Lena.   He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.  Our deepest thanks to Carol who helped take care of Al’s medical needs.  We also wish to express our deepest appreciation to Leslie and Jennifer for their care and dedication. Visitation will be held on Thursday October 3, 2019 from 4-7 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday at noon at the funeral home, followed by interment at Brookdale Cemetery with military honors. Perkins, Florence C.

Florence Cushing Perkins, beloved wife of the late Robert Forbes Perkins, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2019 at the age of 98. Born in San Francisco in 1921 to John Eldridge Cushing and Isabel Grace Beaver, her ancestors traveled by ship from Hingham, Massachusetts and settled in Mill Valley, California near San Francisco in 1850. Mrs. Perkins attended Vassar College, returning to San Francisco during the early 1940s where she met her husband, Forbes, a lieutenant commander in the Navy, who became an aviator during WWII. They married in 1942 and had a beautiful, long and loving marriage. After the war they moved to Massachusetts, first living in Needham, and then moving to Manchester-by-the Sea where they raised five children. Mrs. Perkins served as president of the Women’s Educational and Industrial Union in Boston and the Chilton Club. She was an active member of the North Shore Garden Club and was instrumental in establishing gardens at Beverly Hospital. As a member of the Trustees of Reservations, she helped establish the Friends of Misery Island. Mrs. Perkins was an avid supporter of the Massachusetts Audubon Society and the Quebec-Labrador Foundation. Flo and Forbes were adventurous sailors, and lifetime members of the Manchester Yacht Club and the Cruising Club of America. Flo had a great sense of humor. She loved proverbs, one of her favorites being; “Never trouble trouble until trouble troubles you.” She is survived by her five children Evelyn, Isabel, Robert, Florence, and Thomas, and four grandsons, Marshall and Elliott Agnew and Thomas and Robert Perkins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 10 am at the Manchester Yacht Club, Tuck’s Point Road, Manchester, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Florence Perkins to the Massachusetts Audubon Society.

Margeson, Linnea S.

Linnea Sylvia Margeson of Dedham, died September 28th, 2019 two days before her 49th birthday. Beloved daughter of Vendla (Fredriksen) and Ernest Margeson of Wareham. Loving sister of Sonja (Michael) Burke of Westwood, Lisa (Peter)Vigliano of Needham, Kurt (Sigrid) of Westmanland, ME and Aleta (Marten) Wolckenhaar of Bedford. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Linnea also leaves her beloved four-legged companion, Bella. Linnea attended Westwood Schools and was a graduate of Westwood High School, with the Class of 1988. She was a lover of animals and enjoyed being out on the ocean. She was smart, funny and always had compassion for others. Visiting hours are omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday October 5th at 11am in St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 950 East Street, Dedham. Burial will be private.
