Jonathan Copeland Carchia, a resident of Waltham, died Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Sudbury Pines Nursing Home in Sudbury, MA. He was 73. Jonathan was born August 3, 1946 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only son of Robert and Dorothy (Copeland) Carchia. He was the brother of the late Janet Lee Carchia. He is survived by his mother and several cousins. Jonathan was a talented musician who played guitar, drums, and sang. He attended the Control Data Institute in Burlington, Massachusetts where he studied digital computer operations and then attended the Berklee School of Music. Private interment will be in Newton Cemetery in Newton, Massachusetts.
Rhoda Elizabeth Bestwick, a resident of Oak Point in Middleboro, and formerly of Hyde Park, Dedham and Falmouth, died Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the All American Assisted Living Facility in Hanson. She was 89. Rhoda was born July 30, 1930 in Dedham, Massachusetts, a daughter of Roger O. and Ruth L. (Olsen) Bestwick. She graduated from Dedham High School with the Class of 1948 and worked for many years as a case investigator for the Child Support Department of the Department of Revenue for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, both at Dedham Town Hall and later in Norwood. Rhoda was the wife of the late Peter Koshivos, and of the late William Baga, and the sister of the late Robert Bestwick. Rhoda is survived by her sister Robin E. Friel and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 4th at 11 am at Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham. A. Celia (Buono) Boone, a long life resident of Dedham, passed away on December 30, 2019 at the age of 82. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of John and Rose (Sperrazza) Buono. Mrs. Boone is remembered by her children as someone who always had to take care of everyone else before herself. She liked her scratch tickets, loved to cook, her pot roast was especially good and was an avid reader. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Lee Boone and dear mother of Cindy Zaleski of Milford, Cheryl Ferris of Boynton Beach Florida, Robert Boone and his wife Lauren O’Brien Boone of Dedham, Susan Young of Templeton and Sandra Boone of Braintree. Devoted grandmother of Christopher and Jennifer Ferris, and Heather, Sarah, and Sean Young, and great grandmother of Stevie Hart Ferris. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 2 -4PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. Service and interment will be private. Gayle Lorraine (Harling) DeAvila, a longtime resident of Dedham, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at her home in Dedham. She was 74. Gayle was born in Norwood, Massachusetts on January 19, 1945, the only daughter of Albert and Lorraine (Klaes) Harling. She graduated from Dedham High School and pursued a career as a seamstress where she indulged in her love of creating all manner of crafts from fabric. She enjoyed quilting and recently ran a class in it for the “Kids in the Kitchen” program at the First Baptist Church in Westwood where she was an active parishioner. Gayle was also a former member of the Friends of the Endicott Estate in Dedham. Gayle was the wife of the late Kenneth Thomas DeAvila who predeceased her in 2018. She is survived by her son, Erik Thomas DeAvila, and his wife Stephanie, of Dedham; her three grandchildren, Brittany, Paige, and Thomas; her two great grandchildren, Adrianna and Liam; and her brother, John Harling of Pennsylvania. She was the sister of the late Ronald and Kenneth Harling. Relatives and friends are invite to attend her Memorial Service Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Westwood, 808 High Street, Westwood, MA 02090 followed by interment in the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, Baker Street, West Roxbury. Marjorie Louise (Arnott) Civitarese, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Wednesday, Christmas Day, 2019 at the Norwood Hospital in Norwood after a brief illness. She was 92. Marjorie was born July 23, 1927 in Dedham, Massachusetts, the last surviving child of the eight children of William Charles and Sadie May (Soulnier) Arnott. She graduated from Dedham High School and then studied hairdressing in preparation of owning and operating her own business, Marjorie’s Beauty Salon, in Dedham Square. After her “retirement” she continued hairdressing at her daughter’s shop, Marie’s Hair Design in Oakdale Square, Dedham. Marjorie was also a talented organist. She enjoyed speak-easies in her younger years, and scratch cards, Wheel of Fortune, and lobster as she grew older. Her overriding joy however was the enjoyment she got from her many friends and family. Marjorie was the wife of the late Raphael Civitarese who predeceased her in 2009, and the mother of the late Marie Marsh-DePinho. She is survived by her son, Paul Civitarese, and his wife Donna, of Foxboro; her three daughters, Charlene Magee of Braintree, Michelle L. McColgan, and her husband Steven, of Dedham, and Ann Pucillo of Franklin; as well as 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and “too many to count” great great grandchildren. Majorie was the sister of the late William C. Arnott, Loretta G. Brown, Theresa E. Prejean, Sadie M. “Sally” Benson, Viola M. Neilly, Mary C. “Tina” Scott, and Robertha V. Civitarese. Visitation with Marjorie’s family will be held Monday, December 30th from 10 am until noon followed by her funeral service at noon at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham, MA. Thomas Joseph MacKenzie, a resident of Walpole, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 17, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 64 years old. Tom was the loving father of Thomas MacKenzie and his partner Donna Lynch, Rachel MacKenzie and Kimerbly Knauber and her husband Robert. He is survived by his siblings Dorothy MacKenzie-Kelley, William MacKenzie, Christine Grenham and Laura Walsh. He was the former husband of Barbara (Brown) MacKenzie. Tom was the proud Papa of Thomas Martin MacKenzie, MacKenzie Citrone, Toby Knauber, Aaron MacKenzie and Connor MacKenzie. Tom was honored to be considered a secondary father to Robert and James Ahern. Tom was a graduate of Canton High School, Class of 1973 and Bay State School of Technology. He was the owner of TOMACK Heating and Air Conditioning for 14 years. Tom enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and long rides on his Harley alongside his friend Jonathan Cardoni. He loved his Chuck Taylors and a cup of Starbucks coffee.

June Mary (DiSciullo) Flint, a resident of Dedham, died Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood. She was 79. June was born June 11, 1940 in Brighton, Massachusetts, a daughter of Arthur J. and Mary Phillis (Zarba) DeSciullo. She graduated from Brighton High School and worked as an administrator for Firecontrol Company and later for Advanced Energy. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and home remodeling/redecorating. June was the wife of the late Donald Francis Flint, the longtime companion of the late Edward Roskowski, and the sister of the late Jerry DiSciullo. She is survived by four sons, Stephen, and his wife Lisa Coveney, Robert, and his wife Lori, Richard, and Michael, and his wife Eileen; two daughters, Diane Greer, and her husband Robert, and Julie Danti, and her husband Ken; her sisters, Mildred Pack, and Karen Lirosi; and nine grandchildren, Candace, Jaclyn, Michael, and Donald Flint, Lindsay Greer, Amanda, and Justin Danti, and Joe and Steven McGahan. Visiting hours will be held Monday, December 16th from 5 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham with a prayer service by the Deacon Kelley McCormick at 7:45 pm. Interment will be private.
Carl McBride Patrick, a resident of Westwood for the past six years, and formerly of Norwood for 49 years, died Thursday, December 5, 2019 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Carl was born August 28, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Carl was the owner and operator of Norwood Auto and Truck Body Repair company in Norwood until his retirement in 1986. He was a former member of Orient Lodge AF & AM in Norwood. Carl was a Bruins and a Celtics fan. He enjoyed reading, tinkering in his workshop, and working with cars. Carl is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Ceriani) Patrick; his son, Bruce Patrick, and his wife Kathleen, of Lakeville; his daughter, Robyn Patrick of Medfield; and his two grandchildren, Cameron and Andrew Patrick. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 10 am until noon at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood followed by his funeral service in the funeral home at noon. Interment with military honors will be in Highland Cemetery in Norwood. Ann F. Kavanagh, a long time resident of Dedham passed away on November 16, 2019. Born in New York City, New York, she was the daughter of the late James “Barney” and Catherine P. (Goonan) Kavanagh. Ann was a graduate from Ursuline Academy, Class of 1966 and attended Boston University and U Mass Boston where she earned her BA in Elementary Education. She worked as a bookkeeper at the former Boston-Needham Industrial Cleaning Company and former Irish Ale House. Ann loved music, liked to travel and was an avid reader. Family was her greatest joy. She will be sorely missed. Ann is survived by her siblings Bernie Kavanagh, Ellen Clinton and her husband Thomas and Mary Kavanagh and her companion Ronald Brousseau, all of Dedham and the late John Kavanagh. She was the loving aunt of Ursula A. Kavanagh-Drasher, Jason Kavanagh, Michael Cllinton and Brian Clinton and great aunt of 12. She is also survived by many cousins here and Abroad. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 9 AM at St. Susanna’s Church, 262 Needham St., Dedham. Interment is private. Brian J. Wilson passed away on November 14, 2019 at the age of 57. He was a resident of Beverly, MA and was formerly of Dedham, where he grew up. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Alice R. (McNicholas) Wilson. He worked as a mason in general contracting. He enjoyed playing softball and liked to fish and was an avid dog lover. Brian was a good friend to all. He is survived by his siblings, Kenneth E. Wilson of Dedham, Joan DeCosta and her husband Steven of Norwood, Robert L. Wilson and his wife Linda, and his sister-in-law Julie Wilson, all of Dedham and his companion Grace Diorio along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas F. Wilson, Jr. and James K. Wilson. Visiting hours will be on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 9-11AM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham, followed by a graveside service in Brookdale Cemetery.
