Dunn, Bridget A.

Bridget Agnes (Maguire) Dunn, a longtime Dedham resident, died Thursday, April 9, 2020 at her home in Dedham surrounded by her loving family.  She was 85.  Bridget was born November 12, 1934 in Blacklion, County Cavan, Ireland, a daughter of Francis and Mary (Curnyn) Maguire.  She studied nursing at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and worked as a licensed practical nurse at many greater Boston nursing homes including the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton and Eastwood Nursing Home in Dedham.  Bridget enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles, and travel, especially back to her beloved Ireland.  She is survived by her devoted husband, James Francis Dunn, Sr.; her son, James Francis Dunn, Jr., and his wife Rose, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her daughter, Kathleen Mary Dunn of Dedham; her two grandchildren, Amanda Penn, and her husband Anthony Francis Sr, of Norwood and Thomas Dunn of Anchorage, Alaska; her two great grandchildren, Anthony Francis Penn Jr. and Abigael Rose Penn; her brother Felix Maguire of Corby, England; as well as nieces, nephews, and her beloved dog Brutus.  She was the sister of the late Margaret Williams, Kathleen McBrien, Anne Psaradelis, and John Frank Maguire.  Service and interment in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham will be private. Forrester, Joan E.

Joan Edith Forrester, a resident of Quincy for over 20 years, died Thursday, April 9, 2020 at the Norwood Hospital after a brief illness.  She was 84.  Joan was born April 9, 1936 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the only daughter of Herbert Upham and Susanna Pauline (Sylvester) Forrester.  She was the sister of the late Reverend Rodney Leo Forrester. She worked in mail delivery services for the John Hancock Insurance Company for 44 years until her retirement in 1995.  Joan was a former Girl Scout and was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Boston, where she visited the shut-ins, and served as the treasurer of the church’s Tabitha Society.  She also volunteered for the Braille Association and the Lutheran Braille Workers for 30 years. Joan is survived by her dear friends Robert and Jackie Lawton of Foster, Rhode Island, and the Reverend Walter Reuning of Middleborough.  Services and interment in the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury will be private.  In lieu of flowers donations to Lutheran Braille Workers, 13471 California Street, PO Box 5000, Yucaipa, CA 92399, or online at lbw@lbwinc.org, would be appreciated.

Blodget, Louise

Louise French “Frenchie” Blodget dies on March 31, 2020, just shy of her 100th birthday. Frenchie was the beloved matriarch of her family and a well-known member of each community that she was a part of: Princeton, NJ, Fox Hill Village in Westwood, MA, and Annisquam, MA. She spent 98 of her 99 summers in Annisquam. There she gathered family, oversaw hours of tennis, played a fiercely competitive family game of “spoons”, offered up thousands of lobster rolls, and savored every sunset.

Born in 1920, Frenchie grew up in St. Louis, MO. While attending Bryn Mawr College, she met Alden Sanford “Sandy” Blodget. They enjoyed many wonderful years together until his death in 1990.

Activity defined her life. She opened the first New Jersey office for Planned Parenthood in Trenton. She also volunteered for years at the Princeton Hospital, the Princeton Art Museum, and Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic. She also served on the board at Fox Hill Village.

She had a sharp and active mind that was always evident in her prowess with the New York Times crossword puzzles, her frequent wins in duplicate bridge and Scrabble, and her phenomenal memory. She played tennis until she was 80, danced after two hip replacements at 92, and was a loyal friend and beloved grandmother.

Frenchie is survived by her three sons, Alden Blodget of Essex, MA, Dudley Blodget of Winchester, MA, Henry Blodget, and a daughter, Sally Carton of Chicago; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in her honor to Planned Parenthood (PPNCSNJ, PO Box 9077, Trenton, NJ 08650) or to Wellspring House (302 Essex Ave., Gloucester, MA 01930). A memorial service will be held in Annisquam, MA when large and joyful gatherings are again possible.

Gill, Michael P., Sr.

Michael P. Gill, Sr., a resident of Norwood, passed away on April 6 after a long illness, at the age of 70.  He was born in Litchfield, MN and was the son of the late Peter and Edna (Bachman) Gill.  He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, serving in the United States Army.   Michael worked as a sales manager in retail prior to his illness.  He was a John Wayne and war movie fan.  He always enjoyed reading anything about the Civil War.  Height was prevalent in his family as he was 6 foot 4 and not the tallest among his siblings.  He was the dear father of Michael P. Gill, Jr. of Norwood and the brother of Jimmy Gill of Brockton, Ricky Gill of Charlotte, NC, Tommy Gill of Attleboro, Patty Choquette of Albany, NY and Kathy O’Connell of East Brookfield, MA.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Interment will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne.

Buckley, Alice T.

Alice Theresa (Sparks) Buckley, a longtime resident of Norwood, died Monday, April 6, 2020 at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood.  She was 92.  Alice was born March 25, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts one of the three daughters of Averill and Josephine (Hanlon) Sparks.  She was the wife of the late Alfred Crasco and the late John Buckley; the mother of the late Alan Crasco; and the sister of the late Eleanor Whalen and the late Jeanne Murphy. Alice is survived by her son, John Buckley; her daughter-in-law, Linda Crasco; and the grandmother of Allison Crasco Smith and Erin Buckley.  Services and interment with her husband at the National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 would be appreciated.

McGuigan, Linda

Linda D. (Brobst) McGuigan of Jacksonville, NC, formerly of Dedham, passed away on April 2nd after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Boston,  she was the daughter of the late William C. and Clara D. (Graham) Brobst.  She was a graduate of Dedham High School, Class of 1969.  Linda worked for many years in the shoe retail business as district manager.  She was also an avid animal lover, and was blessed with many wonderful friends throughout the years. 

Linda was the loving sister of Ronald F. Brobst and his wife Ann of North Carolina, Gary K. Brobst and his wife Debra of Kansas and sister-in-law Virginia Brobst of Dedham.  She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; William C. Brobst, III and wife Susan, Bonnie E. (Brobst) Campbell, Cynthia Klimpel and husband Todd, Rebecca (Brobst) Drown, Ronald F. Brobst, Jr. and wife Petrina along with 11 great nieces and nephews and several cousins.  She was predeceased by her siblings William C. Brobst, Jr. and Sharon E. (Brobst) Huber.  A private interment will be held in Brookdale Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, her family requests that you donate to your local animal shelter.

Ingemi, Pauline

Pauline (Lo Verde) Ingemi- of Norwood since 1950, passed away on March 26, with her family by her side. She was 97. Born in Palemo, Sicily, the daughter of Salvatore and Maria (Domenichelli) Lo Verde. Emigrating from Italy in 1942, Pauline lived in New York, and worked as a seamstress. She met and married the late Pasquale P. Ingemi, and they moved to Roslindale, MA. Later, after moving to Norwood, she started her own seamstress business in South Norwood. After she closed the shop, she produced piece work for a company on Tremont St., and she continued to make garments and do alterations from her home. Her family was her greatest pride. All of her grandchildren loved spending time with her, and would occasionally live with her. Pauline’s children lovingly speak of their mother with respect and pride when they tell the story of her coming to a new country as a young girl, learning a new language, starting and managing her own business, and raising her children. Pauline was the beloved mother of Michael J. Ingemi and his wife Irene of Norwood, Peter P. Ingemi of Springhill, FL, Janet O’Connor and her husband Ed of Carver and Paula Stroshine of Wrentham. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Edward C. O’Connor and wife Rachel, Geoffrey O’Connor and wife Carol Baldwin, Julianne O’Connor, James Allen, Angela Allen-Plunket and her husband Robert Plunket, Paul Ingemi, Amanda Ingemi and her spouse Victoria Joseph and 4 great grandchildren; Casey O’Connor, Thomas O’Connor, Rory O’Connor and Vanessa Plunket. Pauline was predeceased by her siblings; Gaspare Lo Verde, Frances Sturniolo and Rose Trigili. A private burial was held in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Gay, Michael

Michael O. Gay, a resident of Dedham, passed away in West Roxbury on March 27, 2020.  He was 59 years old.  Mike was born in Norwood, MA on October 26, 1960, and was the son of the late Chester O. and Shirley A. (Doyle) Gay.   He also served honorable in the Navy, most recently in 2003 when he was deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom.  Mike is the beloved husband of Mary (Dy) Gay of Dedham, and the dear father of Chester Gay of Easton.   He is also survived by his loving sister Leslie Garcia of Foxborough, and his nephews Preston Garcia of Texas, and Trenton Garcia of Foxborough.  Services for Mike will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Michaels name can be made to the ALS Association Massachusetts Chapter, 685 Canton St., Suite 103, Norwood, MA 02062, or at www.als-ma.org.

Caulfield, Maureen J.

Maureen Joyce Caulfield, a resident of Sharon, died Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the Norwood, Hospital.  She was 57.  Maureen was born October 21, 1962 in Marlborough, Massachusetts, a daughter of Joseph Christopher and Mary Virginia (Rainey) Caulfield.  She worked as an underwriter in the reinsurance industry.  Maureen is survived by her sister Carol M. Mecca of Riverside, Rhode Island.  Services and interment will be private.

Sfeir, Laura

Laura (DeAngelis) Sfeir, a resident of Westwood, died Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital after  long illness.  She was 52.  Laura was born April 5, 1967 in Norwood, Massachusetts a daughter of Henry Michael and Sara May (Thomas) DeAngelis.  She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Mass General Hospital in Boston.  Laura is survived by her husband, Dani R. Sfeir; her son Andre Sfeir of Westwood; her brother, David C. DeAngelis, and his wife Debbie, of Arnold, California; her four sister, Carol L. Saari, and her husband Robert Pizzi, of West Yarmouth, Christine DeAngelis of Wildwood, New Jersey, Ginnie Mulroy, and her husband Bill, of Bellingham, and Sally L. DeAngelis, and her husband Mitch Rosenberg, of Lowell; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.  Laura enjoyed singing inn the St. Denis Choir, hiking and swimming.  She lived her life with a smile always on her face. Services and interment will be private.
