Hutchens, Diane E.

CHANGE OF SERVICE TIME AND LOCATION

Diane Elizabeth (Latimer) Hutchens, a resident of Norwood, died Monday, January 2, 2023 at her home in Norwood. She was 80. Diane was born September 26, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of Ray Harry and Sarah Marguerite (Semple) Latimer. Diane was an active member of the Women’s Community Committee in Norwood and a former member of Grace Episcopal Church in Norwood. She was the wife of the late Hylie Wilbert Hutchens Jr. who predeceased her in 2016 and is survived by her two sons, David Hutchens, and his wife Carolyn, of Norwood, and Kenneth R. Hutchens, and his wife Laura, of Marlboro; her three grandchildren, Chris, Tyler, and Ashley Hutchens, all of South Carolina; her sister, Valerie Rudar; and her two brothers, Floyd and Ray Semple. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 1 pm at Grace Episcopal Church, 150 Chapel Street in Norwood. In lieu of flowers donations to the Arthritis Foundation, 29 Crafts Street, Suite 450, Newton, MA 02458 would be appreciated.

Jacobs, Josephine P.

Josephine Patricia (Sullivan) Jacobs, a longtime resident of Westwood, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Bridges by Epoch at Westwood. She was 94. Josephine was born October 12, 1928 in Charlestown, Massachusetts, a daughter of John C. and Nora A. (Gallagher) Sullivan, immigrants from Ireland. She graduated from Girls High School in Boston and went on to attend Boston University. Josephine worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for Ingall’s Advertising Company in Boston. She was a member of the West Roxbury Holy Name Society. Josephine was the wife of the late Frank C. Jacobs who predeceased her in 2017, and whom she had been married to for 66 years. She is survived by her three sons, Frank B. Jacobs, and his wife Yvonne, of Westwood, Paul Jacobs, and his wife Linda, of Waltham, and Thomas G. Jacobs of Boston; her two daughters, Nancy A. Jacobs of Boston, and Dianne Hannon of Walpole; 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Josephine was the sister of the late George, Jack, and Eugene Sullivan, and the late Helen Fallitti. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 3 to 7 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home starting at 10 am Monday, January 9th at the funeral home and proceed with us to St. Margaret Mary’s Church, 845 High Street, Westwood for her funeral mass at 11 o clock. Interment will follow in New Westwood Cemetery.

Buckley, Katherine A.

Katherine Ann Buckley, a resident of Norwood, died Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Accent Care Hospice Home in Milton. She was 56. Katie was born February 28, 1966 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Dennis J. and Katherine M. (Leonard) Buckley, both of whom predeceased her. Katie graduated from Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in Franklin, and worked for Lifeworks Employment Services in Norwood for over 20 years. She is survived by two sisters, Denise E. Mistler of Thompson, Connecticut, and Maryann Bruno, and her husband Jim, of Huntersville, North Carolina; and three brothers, Patrick J. Buckley, and his wife Christine, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Thomas M. Buckley of Milford, Massachusetts, and Dennis J. Buckley Jr., of North Attleboro, Massachusetts; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass for Katherine will be held Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023 at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church, 176 Washington Street, Walpole followed by interment in St. Francis Cemetery in Walpole.

Spindler, Nancy

Nancy Beebe Spindler, formerly of Dedham, MA and recently of Westwood, MA, died on Wednesday, December 21, the winter solstice. She was 97 years old. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves her two sons, Peter and Christopher; her three granddaughters, Chelsea, Kyla and Wesley; and her great-grandson, Samuel. “Noni” was born on Beacon St., in Boston, on October 14, 1925, in her parents’ apartment. Her father died in an airplane crash which she witnessed Memorial Day, 1934. She graduated from Milton Academy, attended Connecticut College for Women, and married Richard on May 18, 1946. They vacationed in St. Croix in the spring of 1950 for the first time, just before RAS graduated from Wharton and they moved back to Boston for his first job in the financial community. She attended Wellesley College after Chris was born in 1951, and as she told the story, “Then those boys grew up to be troublesome.” Her favorite job was at Modern Gourmet under the tutelage of French chef Madeleine Kamman in the late ’70s. She brought her insight and expertise to the family table at weekly Sunday dinners. She and RAS bought an apartment in St. Croix, but it was destroyed soon after completion but before occupancy by Hurricane Hugo. They eventually bought another home there and spent happy winters together. Later in life she made many new friends in Westwood, and had recently begun a French grammar class. She died peacefully surrounded by those who loved her. No services will be held.

Peterson, James J.

James Joseph Peterson, a resident of Marshfield, died Friday, December 16, 2022 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness. he was 75. James was born August 2, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of Adam and Mary P. (Collins) Peterson. He was a Bar and Restaurant owner. He was the brother of Michael J. Peterson of Norton. Services and interment will be private.

Maguire, Rosemarie

Rosemarie (Gouveia) Maguire, a resident of Needham, and formerly of Jamaica Plain and Somerville, died peacefully on Thursday December 15, 2022 at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA surrounded by loved ones.

Rose was born September 18, 1954 in Boston, Massachusetts to parents Joao and Josephine (Cantello) Gouveia. She was a graduate of Somerville High School and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank for over 20 years. Rose also worked at the City of Boston Credit Union and Somerville High School before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with her family and most of all being “Nana” to Lucas.

Rose is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Maguire and her husband Matthew Baker of Needham, Maureen Maguire of Boston, and Emily Maguire of Dracut; her grandson, Lucas Maguire Baker; her sister Linda Hanson, of Reading; brother John Gouveia of Chesterfield, MO; former spouse Patrick Maguire of Quincy; and countless other loved ones. Rose was the sister of the late Frank Gouveia, of Chelmsford.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 10-11:00am and memorial service 11-12:00pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association would be appreciated.

Parkinson, Priscilla A.

Priscilla Ann (Jenks) Parkinson, a resident of Norfolk, Massachusetts, died Friday, December 16, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Lincoln, Rhode Island surrounded by her loving family. She was 90. Priscilla was born January 27, 1932 in Winthrop, Massachusetts, a daughter of William Gardner and Eva Donna (Moulton) Jenks. She was a graduate of Walpole High School and attended Nasson College in Springvale, Maine. Priscilla worked as a secretary for the Boy Scouts and later as a direct care supervisor at the Wrentham State School. She expressed her creative abilities by making jewelry, braiding rugs and painting. Priscilla was the wife of the late Donald Forbes Parkinson; the mother of the late Donald G. Parkinson and the late Diane Faith MacDonald; and the sister of the late William, David and Merrill Jenks. She is survived by her son, William Frederick Parkinson, and his wife Joanne, of North Attleboro; her two daughters, Deborah Ann Tripp, and her husband Steven, of Norfolk, and Elizabeth Anne Stacki of Lincoln, Rhode Island; her brother, Jonathan Jenks of South Dakota; her sister, Miriam Hobart of Middleboro; as well as 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral, Friday, December 30th at the funeral home followed by interment in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 would be appreciated.

Fucillo, John A. “Junebug”

John Anthony Fucillo, a resident of Dedham, and formerly of Roxbury and Hyde Park, died Thursday, December 15, 2022 a the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Milton. He was 88. John was born August 13, 1934 in Boston, Massachusetts a son of John and Filomena (Marrotta) Fucillo. He worked as self employed truck driver delivering movies and supplies to local theaters. John was a member of the West Roxbury Knights of Columbus and coached Park League football teams. He enjoyed watching Boston Sports teams and hosting cookouts. John is survived by his wife, Jean Louise (Fitzgerald) Fucillo; his two daughters, Christine M. Sullivan, and her husband Lawrence, of Dedham, and Karen L. Thomas, and her husband Jack, of Canton; his two grandsons, Daniel Sullivan, and his wife Caitlin, of Norton, and Matthew Sullivan, and his wife Casey, of Somerset; his great granddaughter, Keira Sullivan; and his brother William Fucillo, and his wife Carol, of Canton. He was the brother of the late Michael Fucillo, and his late wife Blanche. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, December 21st, from 9 to 10:30 am at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham followed by his funeral mass in St. Anne’s Church, 82 West Milton Street, Readville at 11 o clock. Interment in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.

MacElhiney, Audrey J.

Audrey Jean (Clarke) MacElhiney, a resident of Venice, Florida, and formerly of Westwood, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2022. She was 93.

Audrey was married to Wallace MacElhiney for 55 years of unconditional love, and later John Rogers for 8 wonderful years. Both have preceded her in death. Born in Boston, she graduated from Burdett College and was a legal secretary. She became a committed Christian after attending a Billy Graham crusade. She attended Elliot Congregational Church, Roxbury, MA., was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Westwood, MA and presently attends Englewood United Methodist Church, in FL.

Audrey was the beloved mother of Jean Mellen Sinko, and her husband George, Neil and his wife Paula, and David MacElhiney, and his wife Lesley. She was the proud Grandmother of Elizabeth, Christopher, Siobhan, Taryn, Russell, Taylor, Jarrett, and the loving great grandmother of Saoirse and Ollivia. She was the sister of the late Herb and Paul Clarke, and was surrounded by an abundance of nephews, nieces, and friends.

Audrey was a member of Lemon Bay Garden Club, the mustard seed society of the Englewood United Methodist Church, and a member of the Leah Circle. Her life was filled with happiness and joy.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Dec 18, 2022 from 2-4 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High St, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday at 10 am at the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street Westwood followed by interment in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy beside her beloved Wally. A Memorial Service will be held on Jan 21st at 3 pm in Doan Chapel at the Englewood United Methodist Church in Florida

Kovar, Stephen A.

Stephen Anthony Kovar, a longtime resident of Dedham, died Monday, December 12, 2022 at his home. He was 73. Stephen was born September 19, 1949 in Jacksonville, Florida, a son of Clarence and Margaret Frances (Linehan) Kovar. He attended Wentworth Institute and worked as a shipper/receiver for the Carroll Center for the Blind in Newton. He retired earlier this year. Stephen enjoyed caring for his yard and gardening, and frequently helped his neighbors in those same endeavors. He also enjoyed board games and card games, and was an avid train aficionado, collecting both HO and N scale model trains. Stephen is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane Teresa (Brierly) Kovar. He was the brother of the late Francis Kovar. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 15th from 5 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday, December 16th at 11 am at the funeral home followed by interment in Mount Benedict Cemetery on Corey Street in West Roxbury. Donations to the Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Center, 148 Chestnut Street, Needham, MA 02492 would be appreciated.
