Irene Louise (Garber) Sawyer, a longtime resident of Dedham, died Sunday, April 23, 2023 at her residence at the Village at Willow Crossing in Mansfield. She was 94. Irene was born October 25, 1928 in Boston, the only daughter of Arthur E. and Irene A. (Habblitz) Garber. She graduated from Dedham High School and worked as an office clerk for the First National Bank of Boston. Irene was the wife of the late Kenneth Sawyer and is predeceased by her six brothers, Arthur, Robert, Roy, George, Ralph, and Herbert Garber. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 2nd from noon to 1 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 1 ‘o clock. Barbara Susan (Jacobs) Rochon, a resident
of Wrentham for over 20 years, died Sunday April 23, 2023 at her home in
Wrentham surrounded by her loving family. She was 66. Babs was born September
23, 1956, the youngest of the three daughters of Frank J. and Rosemary
(Sabella) Jacobs. She grew up on Loring Street in Westwood and graduated from
Westwood High School with the Class of 1974. She went on to earn her Master’s
degree in Education from Lesley College and taught mathematics at the Ahern
Middle School in the Town of Foxboro. She was an avid tennis player who
participated in numerous tennis competitions, and was a member of the Charles
River Tennis Club in Medway. Babs enjoyed card games, including cribbage,
running, hiking with her dog, and was a talented cook, even working as a
Pampered Chef consultant. She was very involved in the school community and
served as the treasurer for her teacher’s union. Barbara is survived by her
husband of 22 years, Paul Frederick Rochon; her two daughters, Jillian Elizabeth
Burnham of Plainville, and Korrina Ann Bucci, and her husband Jeremy, of
Deerfield; her sisters, Geraldine Margaret Tessicini, and her husband Richard,
of Medway, and Linda Marie Jacobs, and her husband Robert “Rudy” Rudner, of
Needham; as well as her grandson, Charlie L. Bucci. Visiting hours will be held
Friday, April 28th from 5 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street,
Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home,
Saturday, April 29th starting at 9 am and proceed with us to St. Denis Church
for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 ‘o’clock. Interment will follow in New

George Frederick Buttlar, a resident of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and formerly of Mount Vernon, Maine, and of Dedham for over 30 years, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Providence Rhode Island Veteran’s Hospital. He was 94. George was born April 8, 1929 in Dedham, Massachusetts, a son of John C. and Katherine (Weitz) Flanagan Buttlar. After his graduation from Dedham High School he enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Hollis until his honorable discharge in 1952. George worked as a truck driver for Foster Brothers Concrete Block Company in Westwood for 14 years until his retirement in 1977 after which he moved to Mount Vernon Maine and worked for 10 years for Gagne Concrete Block in Belgrade, Maine. George was the former husband of the late Dorothy Mae (Knecht); the father of the late George F. Buttlar Jr; and the brother of the late Arthur, John, and Herbert Buttlar and the late Elaine O’Rourke. He is survived by his daughters, Jean M. Bator of Pawtucket, and Dorothy M. Buttlar of East Providence, Rhode Island; his sister Marjorie Floyd of East Walpole; as well as 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 24th from 9 to 11 am at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11 o clock. James Joseph Hourihan Jr., a resident of Framingham, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham after a brief illness. He was 46. James was born Sept 16, 2023 in Burlington, Vermont, the son of James Joseph and Maryann (Sopp) Hourihan. He enjoyed weight lifting and won a state championship in power lifting. James is survived by his mother, Maryann Hourihan of Norwood; his sister, Kathleen “Kate” Hourihan of Cottonwood, Arizona; as well as several aunts and uncles, and many cousins. Interment will be private. A Memorial Service may be held in the Fall at a time to be announced.
Robert “Rob” Everett Cento, of Norwood, passed away on April 14th, 2023, at the age of 66 years old, after a courageous, 15 year battle with brain cancer. Mr. Cento graduated from Walpole High School (1974) and Berklee College of Music magna cum laude (1978) with a major in classical and jazz piano. Later, he was part of a band, “Four’s a Crowd”, that played numerous events at a variety of venues. In the early 1980’s, Robert opened the Robert Cento Piano Studio in Walpole and for 35 years taught classical and jazz piano to hundreds of students. Robert was an impassioned educator and expressed his spirituality through his musical talent. He published essays on teaching, a series of method books for piano teachers, and piano solos for students. Robert was a composer and created a bridal march for his wife, Linda, commemorating their wedding vow, “One More Day Forever”. Robert was a kind and devoted husband to Linda for 25 years. Together, Robert and Linda enjoyed frequent trips to Maine and Cape Cod and shared their home with family and friends for annual Christmas caroling. He was a member of the Mayflower Society through his patriot, Isaac Allerton. Robert is survived by his loving wife Linda M. Cento, his stepdaughters: Diane Simoni and Stephanie Susanin and her husband Roger and grandchildren, Genevieve Elizabeth and Roger Wesley; his brother-in-law George Wesley Hamblen and wife Lisa and nephew Jacob Wesley. Robert bids farewell to his siblings Peter; Daniel and Carmen and nephews Bobby and Benny; John; Carrie and nephew Everett; and godson Matthew F. Berg. Paul Francis Ladd, of Wayland, and formerly of Natick, passed away on January 18th at age 84. Paul attained a degree in Accounting from Boston College and later worked as the Director of Management Information Services for Suffolk University from 1978 until his retirement in 2007. He was also very active in the Natick community, serving for many years as an elected town meeting member, playing an active role in the Natick Charter Commission and serving a member of the Board of Selectman from 1981 to 1985. Paul also volunteered during his retirement as a volunteer with Friends of the Harbor Islands at Spectacle Island. Beloved husband of the late Jacqueline I. (Herlihy) and dear father of Jessica A. Ladd her husband William Brack of Sharon, Maribeth Ladd of Cambridge, and the late Christopher P. Ladd. Brother of the late George P. Ladd and the late Stephen Ladd. He is survived by his twin brother Robert J. Ladd and his grandchildren, Benjamin J. Brack and Isabel J. Brack. Elijah Bennett passed away unexpectedly April 11th, 2023 at his home in Cambridge. He was 25. Born October 4, 1997 in Boston, Massachusetts, he is survived by his mother, Sheila Bennett of Franklin; his sister Rachael Salter, and her husband Robert; his brother David Shamma, and his wife Kelly; his grandmother, Catherine Harris; and his significant other, Caitlin Greene, and her daughter Leila. He is also survived by additional brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him and will miss him very much. Jean Louise (Fitzgerald) Fucillo, a resident of Dedham, died Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the Deutsches Altenheim Nursing Home in West Roxbury. She was 89. Jean was born April 19, 1933 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alfred and Louise (MacDonald) Fitzgerald. She was the wife of the late John Anthony “Junebug” Fucillo who predeceased her on December 15th of last year. Jean was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed gardening. traveling (especially cruises) and entertaining (her cookouts were legendary). Jean is survived by her two daughters, Christine M. Sullivan, and her husband Lawrence, of Dedham, and Karen L. Thomas, and her husband Jack, of Canton. She was also survived by he two grandchildren, Daniel Sullivan, and his wife Caitlin, of Norton, and Matthew Sullivan, and his wife Casey, of Somerset as well as her two great grandchildren, Keira and Phoebe Sullivan. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 18th from 9 to 10:30 am at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne’s Church, 90 West Milton Street, Readville at 11 o clock. John Edwin Beigbeder, a resident of Westwood, died peacefully at his home in Westwood on April 3, 2023. John was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 22, 1955, the son of the late Louis H. and Jean E. (Riddell) Beigbeder. John attended Westwood schools and graduated from Westwood High School with the Class of 1973. John is survived by his sisters, Mianne Edwards of New Jersey, and Lynnette Lancaster of Massachusetts; and his brother, Stephen Beigbeder of Florida. He was the much loved “UJ” (Uncle John) to many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his loving partner, Barbara Leitstein, and his brother, Peter Beigbeder. John worked for many years in the food service industry, managing staff at hospitals and universities. Throughout the years he enjoyed traveling, and was a golf enthusiast. John was happiest in his kitchen and was a gifted chef. He was loved by many who enjoyed his wry sense of humor and generosity. A celebration of life will be planned for summer 2023.
William Joseph McCarthy, a resident of Readville, died Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the West Roxbury VA Hospital in Boston. He was 93. William was born July 13, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Robert and Mary (O’Connor) McCarthy, immigrants from Ireland. He graduated from Hyde Park High School with the Class of 1946 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the US Airforce where he served multiple tours during his 23 year military career. His first tour was with the 3535th Installations Squadron (3535 Bomb Training Wing) and his second was with 3415th Installations Group. Subsequently he served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 307th Tactical Fighter Squadron. William was Honorably discharged in 1969 as a Senior Master Sergeant. After his military service William worked as a foreman for Village Forge Ironworks for 25 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Airforce Sergeants Association and a communicant of St. Anne’s Parish in Readville for 53 years. William was an avid golfer and candlepin bowler and he enjoyed time at the beach and swimming. William was the husband of the late Charlotte Marie (Anthony) McCarthy; the father of the late William J. McCarthy Jr.; and the brother of the late Robert, Jack, and Michael McCarthy, Margaret Lang, and Eileen Forsythe. He is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen M. Caruso, and her husband Ernie, of Westwood, and Colleen McCarthy of Readville; his two sons, Kevin M. McCarthy , and his wife Noreen, of Hull, and Timothy P. McCarthy, and his wife Maureen, of Hull; his late son William Jr’s wife Margaret, of Readville; his sister, Geraldine Boutin of Middleboro, as well as 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 10, 2023 from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.
