Spicer, Joseph “JJ”

Joseph John Spicer, known as “JJ” to his friends and family, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at the Westford House in Westford, Massachusetts. He was 53. JJ was born March 21, 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the four sons of William Stuart and Patricia Anne (Corey) Spicer. He graduated from Dedham High School with the Class of 1987 and worked as a self employed painter and handiman. JJ was a talented artist and lover of music and dance. Gifted and skillful, his natural abilities once gained national recognition as a final contestant on Dick Clark’s dance competition. He is survived by his devoted brothers, Patrick M. Spicer, and his longtime partner Vikki Cibotti, of Dedham, William J. Spicer, and his wife Susan, of York, Maine, and Thomas H. Spicer, and his wife Doreen, of Baldwinsville, New York. He was the uncle of Danielle and Cody Spicer, both of York, Maine, and Jessica, Courtney, and Kyle, all of Baldswinville, New York. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, July 30th from 4-7 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home starting at 9:30 am Monday and proceed with us to St. Anne’s Church, 82 West Milton Street, Readville for his funeral mass at 10:30. Interment will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. In lieu of flowers donations to the YMCA, 316 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115 would be appreciated.

O’Malley, John F. “Jack”

John Francis O’Malley, a longtime resident of Westwood, died Sunday, July 23, 2023 at his home in Westwood. He was 94. Jack was born September 22, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Peter Francis and Mary Frances (Thompson) O’Malley. He grew up in Roslindale, graduated from Hyde Park High School, and enlisted in the US Army where he served honorably as a Private First Class from 1946 until 1948. Jack was a Master Plumber for the Plumbers and Gasfitters Union Local 12 of Boston. He also served as the Plumbing and Gas Inspector for the Town of Westwood for over 20 years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Roslindale until he moved to Westwood and worshipped at St. Margaret Mary Parish. Jack was an avid Bruins and Patriots fan. He loved to read, garden, and spend time with his family, as well as being a civil was history buff. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Saundra Lee “Sunny” (Potter) O’Malley, and was the devoted father of Gayle Marie Rogers of Quincy, the late Edward Joseph O’Malley who predeceased him in 2016, Maryanne Dorothy Kane, and her husband John “Buddy” Kane, of Medway, Carolyn Ethel O’Malley of Sandwich, Janine Elena Sweeney, and her husband Christopher, of Attleboro, Paul Stacey Valentine, and his wife the Reverend Jennifer, of Forestdale, Darren Richard Valentine of Westwood, and Brian Douglas Valentine of Sandwich. He also leaves his sister Marie Schindler, of Medfield, and her late husband Ronald, his brothers-in-law Bruce Potter of North Attleboro, and his late wife Patricia, and Robert Potter, and his wife Margaret “Peg” of Naples Florida, as well as 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 1st from 4-8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood . Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home Wednesday, August 2nd starting at 9:30 am and proceed with us to St. Margaret Mary Church 845 High Street, Westwood for his funeral mass at 11 o’ clock. Interment with military honors will follow at New Westwood Cemetery. Sarkis, Susan M.

Susan Marie (Condry) Sarkis, a resident of Readville, died Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Newbridge on the Charles. She was 69. Susan was born July 28, 1953 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of William and Rose E. (Barbuto) Condry. She graduated from Hyde Park High School with the Class of 1971 and worked as an Assistant Vice President for Workingman’s Cooperative Bank of Boston until 1982. She worked as a secretary for the Boston Public School System for several years and then for Young Achievers In Roxbury until January of 2022. Susan enjoyed fitness workouts, gardening and overseas travel, especially to Italy. She volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Anne’s Church in Readville. She is survived by her husband, Mark Charles Sarkis; her daughter Alyssa Rose Sarkis of Medfield; and her sister, Ann Marie O’Brien of Hyde Park. Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 24th from 4 to 7 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home Tuesday starting at 9:3o am and proceed with us to St. Anne’s Church, 82 West Milton St, Readville for her funeral mass at 10:30. Robillard, Lawrence “Larry”

December 18, 1945 – July 14, 2023

Lawrence Joseph Robillard (Larry) passed away peacefully at home in Boston on July 14, 2023, at the age of 77.  Larry leaves his beloved wife of 52 years, Vivian Robillard, his son Scott and his husband Julio Cesar, his son Chris and his wife Caitlin, and his two precious granddaughters, Scarlett and Nina.  He is also survived by his nieces, Sharon and Kathleen, nephews, Mark and Michael, and sister-in-law, Asta Robillard. Larry is predeceased by his sister, Mary Charlotte Kenney and her husband Stephen Kenney of Wallingford, CT, and brother, Donald Robillard of Plymouth, MA.  He will be deeply missed but will live forever in our hearts.

Larry lived a rich life – always placing his family first, and cherishing the time he was able to spend with close friends.  Larry was born and raised in Cambridge, MA and loved sports from an early age.  He was a lifelong Boston fan and enjoyed college football as well.  Larry loved to travel and shared this hobby with his family – together they visited many destinations within the US and abroad. 

Larry had a successful career of over 30 years with Stop and Shop – as Vice President / Controller. 

What brought Larry the most joy was his granddaughters Scarlett and Nina – to whom he was known as “Poppy”.  He never missed either of their birthday parties or school events, was the family’s expert at hide-and-seek, and was so grateful to be able to play such an active part in their lives. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 8:30-10:30am at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High St., Westwood before proceeding to St. Margaret Mary’s Church, 845 High St., Westwood, for his Funeral Mass at 11AM. Interment to follow at New Westwood Cemetery.

Larry passed away due to complications from Parkinson’s disease, following a long battle with the illness.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Michael J Fox foundation for Parkinson’s research (michaeljfox.org).

Kelly, Judith A.

Judith Ann (Peterson) Kelly, of Plainville and formerly of Walpole, died Monday, July 10, 2023 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was 81. Judith was born October 10, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the three daughters of Eric Harold and Evelyn Marion (Jepson) Peterson. Judith studied at the Chandler School for Women in Boston and worked as a secretary at Northeastern University in Boston before becoming the office manager for College Board, a non-profit company that facilitates entrance exams for college bound students. Judith was the wife of the late John J. Kelly Jr. who predeceased her in 1982. She is survived by her two sisters, Elaine M. Peterson of Norfolk,, and Phyllis E. Dennehy, and her husband Robert, of Medfield. She is also survived by her nephew Matthew Dennehy, his wife Siobhan, and their daughters, Keira, Julia, and Aila, of Medfield; her nephew Andrew Dennehy, his wife Elizabeth, and their daughters Elle and Sofia, of Easton; her niece Kristina Peters, her husband Shaun, and their sons Ethan and Sebastian, of Norfolk; her brother-in-law Michael Kelley, and his wife Leann, of Norwell; her brother-in-law Dennis Kelly, and his wife Joanne, of Norwell; as well as many other Kelly family nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Saturday. September 9, 2023 at 11 am at the Forest Hills Covenant Church, 455 Arborway, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. Lewis, Ronald J. Sr.

Ronald James Lewis Sr., a resident of Highland Glen in Westwood, and formerly of Mission Hill, died Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton. he was 85. Ronald was born January 12, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the three sons of David Gordon and Ruth E. (Brophy) Lewis. He was a graduate of Mission High School. Ronald was the former owner of the Halfway Cafe in Dedham, and also worked as the Northeast Regional Security Director for the Ogden Security Company. His passion however was coaching football at private high schools including Catholic Memorial, Nobles & Greenough, Don Bosco, and Oliver Ames. He is survived by his wife, Carol A. (Burrill) Lewis; his three sons, Ronald J. Lewis Jr., and his wife Patricia, of Dedham, Kevin M. Lewis of Arizona, and David G. Lewis, of Maine; his three grandchildren, Ronald J. Lewis III of Dedham, Makenzie Lewis of Dedham, and Krista McCann of Attleboro; a niece Josephine Lewis of Hull; and two great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass Friday, June 30th at 11 am at St. Margaret Mary Church, 846 High St, Westwood. Interment will be private. Garber, Judy

Judith Ann (White) Garber, a resident of Norton, died Thursday, June 22, 2023 at her home in Norton. She was 73. Judy was born October 29, 1949 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Richard and Marion (Lowell) White. In her youth Judy played clarinet in the St. Theresa Parish Marching Band, as well as for the Norwood Debonnaires, the Alliance Drum and Bugle Corp, and the Brigadiers She worked for 46 years as a customer service representative for Marshalls, Inc. She also enjoyed cruises. She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Russell David Garber; her stepchildren, Robert W. Garber, and his wife Michele, of Mashpee, Ruth I. McKiness, and her husband Kyle, of Gallatin, Tennessee, Russell E .Garber of Gallatin, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Cameron and Patrick Garber, Peter, Emilia, Jessica, Daniel, and Alyssa McKiness, Krystie Luna, and Amanda Rousseau; as well as her 6 great grandchildren. She also leaves her godson, Matt Bryer, and her “bonus daughter”, Matts mother, Ann O’Neil. Judy was the stepmother of the late Craig A. Garber, and the sister of the late Richard White. Sarto, Ann A. “Honey”

Ann Angelina (Alberto) Sarto, known as Honey to her family and friends, a longtime resident of Dedham, died peacefully on Friday June 23rd at the Maple Nursing Home in Wrentham with her family by her side. She was 86. Ann was born February 4, 1937 in Hyde Park, Ma the daughter of Frank and Felicia (Ungaro) Alberto. She graduated from Hyde Park High School and worked for a brief time as a bookkeeper in the pharmaceutical industry. Ann enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling in a league at Empire Lanes in Hyde Park, and being surrounded by her family and friends. Honey is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joseph F. Sarto, Sr. and was the loving mother of Joseph F. Jr., and his wife Gail M., of Bristol, NH, Alan G., and his wife Susan, of Franklin, Cheryl Welch, and her husband Chris, of Wrentham, and Lauren Konieczny, and her husband Adam, of Franklin. She was the proud grandmother of Nicole Krinsky (Scott), Courtney Mofford (Tommy), Kristen Precourt (Eric), Ryan Welch (Amanda), Benjamin Konieczny, Derek Konieczny (Kristen), Stacey Sarto, and Jillian Sarto, and great grandmother of Ayden, Rylie, and Carson Konieczny, Jayden and Luna Precourt, Thomas and Eliana Mofford and Madison Welch. Honey was the sister of Florence Dwyer, and the late Vera Alberto, Rosalie MacDonald, Frances Fish, Mary Longval and Louie Alberto. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Anderson, Erik R.

Erik Rhoades Anderson a longtime resident of Charlestown, Massachusetts died Sunday, June 11, 2023 at the Mass General Hospital in Boston. Erik was the son of Francis Edward and Winifred (Van Horsen) Anderson. He worked as a Professional Photographer for the Arthur D. Little Company. Friends are invited to attend his graveside service Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 11 am at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellesley.

Ridge, Robert T.

Robert Thomas Ridge, a resident of Braintree, and formerly a longtime resident of Westwood, died Monday, June 5th, 2023 at Sunrise of Braintree Assisted Living Center. He was 84. Robert was born April 28, 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the four sons of John Joseph and Mildred M. (Allen) Ridge. After high school Robert studied at Wentworth Institute in Boston and worked for 40 years as a civil engineer for the City of Boston. He enjoyed travelling, especially to Aruba, and spending time at his home on Cape Cod. Robert was the husband of the late Jill (Fitzgerald) Ridge, who predeceased him in 2016, and the brother of the late Francis J. Ridge and the late John J. Ridge. He is survived by his brother Timothy P. Ridge, and his wife Mona, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; three nieces, Erin, Micaela and Suzanne Ridge; and two nephews, John and Stephen Ridge. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 to 11 am at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood followed by a service in the funeral home at 11 o clock.
